The footage of George V was shot on 30 September, 1915, and depicts him inspecting the troops.
The scenes depicting the fleet at sea used the Kinemacolor additive color process. This is one of the earliest films with color sequences.
The film was commissioned by the War Propaganda Bureau, located at Wellington House, Buckingham Gate, London. It was the first feature-length film produced as part of the war effort.
