The End of the Feud (1914) -- Sad Loss
24 July 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

The Dawsons and the Putnams have been feuding for fifty years until one day, a gospel man comes into the territory and convinces Hen Dawson ( Murdock MacQuarrie ) and Jed Putnam ( William Lloyd ) that their feud is ungodly. A truce is maintained until Jed's nephew, Wood ( Lon Chaney ) learns that his sweetheart June ( Pauline Bush ) is in love with Joel Putnam ( William C. Dowlan ). He confronts Joel, and in the fight that follows, Wood is killed. Hen Dawson sets out to kill Joel and he finds him with June as they are about to elope. He is about to kill Joel when the gospel man appears and puts an end to the feud by marrying June and Joel.

"A mountain feud story that works up into some gripping situations...Some excellent scenic effects heighten the interest of the film. The story is old in subject matter, but handled in a convincing manner." --Moving Picture World

"Beautiful scenery throughout...A good love story with an unusual ending" ---Motion Picture News

Sadly this Allan Dwan directed drama, is now a lost silent film.
