Fatty Joins the Force (1913)
When 'Fatty' rescues a young girl from drowning, she turns out to be the police commissioner's daughter. The grateful commissioner offers Fatty a position on the force, and at first Fatty is very pleased with his new position. But he soon runs into difficulties, as his attempt to break up a fistfight only brings him embarrassment. Then, when he confronts a group of mischievous young boys, his real problems begin.- Written by Snow Leopard
Fatty and his wife are walking through the park when suddenly they see a little girl fall into the lake. It's Fatty to the rescue! But his wife has to push him into the job. Literally: she pushes him into the lake. Fatty saves the girl, who turns out to be the police commissioner's daughter. Fatty's reward is a job on the police force. At first he's thrilled, but the job proves to be more trouble than it's worth. His first duty is to break up a fistfight between two young men, but one of them knocks him out cold. Later, a group of mischievous boys harass him, even hitting him in the face with a pie. Still later, they steal his clothes as he goes swimming. The practical joke sets off a chain of events that lead to two old ladies mistaking him for a wild man and his uniformed fellows believing him to be drowned.- Written by J. Spurlin
