The Message in the Bottle , Lost Film
PamelaShort27 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Finding any information for a lost early silent film is quite challenging. I was able to find a small original 1911 newspaper published synopsis for this lost IMp film, The Message in the Bottle, to share with the reader.

"The Message in the Bottle" (IMP) - A striking story of what happens to a young lieutenant ship wrecked upon an island. His prowess wins the recognition of the savages and the king offers him the hand of his daughter in marriage. just as the wedding ceremony is in progress the rescue party, including the young lieutenant's sweetheart arrive. The touching note is the figure of the dusky maiden standing upon a rock, like a statue, watching the boat sail away, heart-broken because of the man she loved.

One can only imagine the public's growing fascination with the increasingly popular Mary Pickford , being a strong draw to see the films produced by the Independent Moving Pictures Company , that Mary had joined briefly after leaving the Biograph Studios. Owen Moore plays the part of Lieutenant Shannon , while Mary Pickford is listed as playing Louise Spencer his sweetheart. I have no information as to who played the island maiden. One can only hope a copy of this film someday resurfaces.
