Bill hits a rich gold strike and sends for his wife, Edith, to join him. While traveling on the stage, Edith meets and flirts with Jack, an old friend of Bill's. Once they arrive at the mining camp, Edith and Jack continue meeting secretly, and plan to run off together. Bill confides in Jack, wondering why Edith has become cold to him.
