This simple but amusing short feature is good-natured entertainment in its own right, and its theme is also of interest. In any era there are plenty of persons very much like the stage-struck central character, so this humorous but gentle look at her efforts ring true at any time.
Both of the two leads play their characters well, especially the woman (apparently Lottie Briscoe) who plays the title character. She gives a slightly exaggerated performance that makes her character a figure of fun, yet at the same time one whom you would care about. Her long-suffering husband is a more exaggerated character, yet the actor portraying him also shows some good timing, especially in the later scenes when the husband is following his starry-eyed spouse.
"She Would Be An Actress" captures, in an elementary yet pleasant story, the nature of those persons who long to be stars. It pokes gentle fun at such ambitious persons, while also making them seem quite human.
