The 17 Year Old Mary Pickford
14 March 2002 | by (London, England) – See all my reviews

Having been recruited by the 34 year old D.W. Griffith after leaving school at 16, the 17 year old Mary Pickford learnt her art at the feet of Griffith in short films like 'The Heart of an Outlaw'. Unlike Lillian Gish, she was not his chosen representative of the American woman, but he did season her to work with Cecil B. DeMille.
