Synopsis: A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Why We're Excited: After seeing the first two trailers, how could anyone not be excited? The previews nicely mix ominous, haunting sci-fi imagery with thought-provoking ideas, and Prometheus will almost certainly be one of the most-talked-about movies this summer. Add in an incredible cast that includes Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron and Idris Elba, and we'll definitely be there on opening weekend.
Why We're Not: Even though director Ridley Scott has been hard at work over the past decade, he really hasn't made a great movie since 2000's Gladiator. Also, we understand why Fox is being so coy about whether or not Prometheus is a prequel to Alien (because the speculation has generated an insane amount of free press), but it's becoming a little bit annoying following some of the more obvious imagery in the latest round of promotional material.
Trivia: In Greek mythology, Prometheus is a titan who steals fire from Zeus and gives it to mortals. For bringing fire to Earth, Prometheus is bound to a rock and has an eagle eat at his liver for eternity. We wonder if a similar fate awaits the characters in Prometheus.
