Director: Marc Webb
Release Date: July 3, 2012
Showtimes: See showtimes
Synopsis: Peter Parker finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father's former partner.
Why We're Excited: Such a sense of fatigue permeated the last Spider-Man movie, where you could feel that Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and director Sam Raimi were so over this story, that a reboot to pump some fresh blood into the franchise feels more like a natural reaction than an opportunistic one. So despite having a distinct sense of deja vu, we're genuinely intrigued to see how director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) spins this particular Spidey web. Oh, and in case you've been under a rock for the past year, young stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are the hottest thing since... Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst circa 2002!
Why We're Not: See "distinct sense of deja vu" above. Too soon for a reboot? What can you make new about Spider-Man -- now he has a Facebook account?
Trivia: To prepare for his role as Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield studied the movements of spiders and tried to incorporate them as much as he could: "Parker is a boy/spider in terms of how he moves, and not just in the suit."
