Why We're Excited: Setting a revisionist take on the 16th President of the United States to the tune of Johnny Cash's "The Man Comes Around" resulted in one of the best summer-movie trailers in some time. And though Timur Bekmambetov has been more busy of late in producer mode (and to varying degrees of success), the aesthetic he created in Night Watch and Day Watch translated with his Hollywood debut, Wanted, and we sense fans of those movies are hungry for another taste of his visually unique dark adventures that don't scrimp on story. Also, any movie that nabs Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, and Alan Tudyk has our vote of confidence.

Why We're Not: Writer Seth Grahame-Smith has generated a lot of attention for high-profile script sales, first for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which cannot seem to get off the ground at Lionsgate. He also has a hand in Dark Shadows, Tim Burton's take on the cult TV show which is either suffering from goofy marketing or might be the miscue of the summer. So the verdict is still out on him as a generator of big-screen historical awesomeness.

Trivia: Tom Hardy was offered the lead role, but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts with The Dark Knight Rises.
