Jared does not think for himself rather he lets the voices of his past and of convention dictate his being. What everyone else wants, Jared gets. It invades his entire being until visions of the subliminal, instinctual, animalistic impulses torment his brain. Roark is the Ego to Jared's Id. Roark pushes Jared to realize his limits and then some.
