IMDb Seen: The Yorktown
Not all films are shot on movie studios. Case in point: some are shot on a retired aircraft carrier. The U.S.S. Yorktown (CV-10) was a US Navy aircraft carrier commissioned in 1943 during the Second World War and was named after a previous carrier of the same name that had been sunk during the Battle of Midway the previous year. After sailing the high seas while serving country on and off for twenty seven years she was decommissioned in 1970. After being stricken by the Navy, she found a new home at the Patriots Point Museum near Charleston, South Carolina. During the time she has been used as a a filming location.
