Halloween is definitely the ideal time to watch as many horror movies and shows as possible, but while contemplating all things slasher/zombie/vampire we realized that some of the creepiest things we've seen on TV and in movies weren't actually intended as horror. Here are a few non-horror movie moments that mentally scarred us and still send a permanent shiver down our spines.

Undeniably the biggest success story of the 2013-2014 TV season's freshman class, NBC's "The Blacklist" started out ferociously fast-paced and strong, and consistently raised the stakes as the story moved along. Over the course of season one, it became one of the few shows that fans didn't want to fall behind on; conspiracies grew more tangled as the secrets surrounding Raymond Reddington's true agenda began to reveal themselves.

We may have reached the traditional television season's halfway point, but lots of new series haven't premiered yet. Among these upcoming series debuts are a few destined to have a place on several "Best of 2014" lists at year's end. Others will become guilty pleasures, while some may go as quickly and quietly as they arrive.
The shows listed here fall into all of these categories, and while I can't guarantee all (or any) of them will earn huge ratings or critical acclaim, I am intrigued enough by what I've seen of them to put them on my Watchlist for at least a few episodes.
