- 'Heroic Episodes' Pilot: The Shooters Nail SYNOPSIS: Heroic Episodes begins with the pilot, The Shooters Nail, a dramatic television series set and produced in South Philadelphia. The story of our Veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan to urban America 2017 - about heroes and how they often find struggles and even a war of a different kind back home. With each new episode, challenges like re-assimilation, substance abuse and PTSD, ignited by the dysfunctional city environment are revealed and explored. The series follows the McMullen's, a family whose pride is rooted firmly in their patriotism and Military service. Beginning with son Mike's return home to Philly as an amputee from an IED blast Iraq, each episode will introduce a new Veteran's story while continuing to weave all existing threads together in a rich and sometimes heart rending, often inspiring mosaic. Both the urban communities and Vets they call home soon grow to learn that stereotypes are misunderstood and judgments have had an effect on everyone. The Vets come to experience self-healing, as they become strong role models in guiding their own communities away from gangs and crime. The social media platform for the project, will offer Veterans the opportunity to submit their real life stories for content consideration for future episodes. When a new story is selected, that particular Veteran also submits a 'wish list' expressing the A-list actor they'd like to portray them in bringing their real story to life. The series will cast real- life members of the military, as well as military consultants. Prominent figures in the city of Philadelphia will also be cast in guest-star and recurring roles. In addition to providing high quality dramatic entertainment, Heroic Episodes is also about real life community service. It will be produced both as a platform for our Veterans to give voice to their stories and to also offer them job opportunities during the filming of each episode. The outreach part of the production will 'bridge the gap' between Veterans and civilians, by enabling the urban youth of Philadelphia on-set training during the filming process offering opportunities to change their life's path. Love, loss, duty, sacrifice and pain. Survival forms unbreakable bonds. This... is Heroic Episodes, pilot 'The Shooter's Nail.'
