- Tom, the son of Mr. Wright, a retired business man, leaves to complete his medical course at college. Mr. Wright accompanies his son to the depot, where he meets an old friend of his, who is sending his nephew, Bob Farrell, to the same college. A year later, Bob loses the last cent of his allowance in a game of cards, and returning to his room he discovers where Tom leaves his money. He is caught in the act by Tom, and the next morning Bob is expelled from college and disowned by his uncle. Left to shift for himself, Bob chances to meet a man by the name of Falk, who is chief of a band of smugglers. Falk offers him a position, and Bob accepts. In the meantime Tom has received his diploma; he introduces James King, connected with the Secret Service, to his sister Nell. One night a week later Tom receives an urgent call. Jumping into a taxi he orders the driver to make haste, and in turning a corner they strike a woman. Tom assists her home and discovers that she is the proprietress of a gambling house. While attending to the injured woman, Tom is surprised to hear the voice of his former roommate, Bob Farrell, who is still a patronizer of the card table. Farrell offers the doctor his hand, but he turns away, which aggravates Farrell. Suddenly a confusion is heard in the other room. Farrell realizes that the house is being raided, and while attempting to escape he is prevented by a policeman. In the tussle Farrell draws a gun, fires, and mortally wounds the policeman. The doctor, re-entering the room, stumbles over the body of the dead policeman, and stooping down to examine the man, picks up the gun which was dropped in the tussle. He is found in that position by the inspector, who has captured Farrell. Farrell accuses the doctor of the shooting. Next morning Tom's father reads the report that his son is held for murder and succumbs to the shock. At the trial Farrell's false testimony and the circumstantial evidence prove fatal to Tom, who is sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment. While in prison, Tom writes a letter to his sister, requesting her to seek the services of James King in watching Farrell, whom he believes fired the fatal shot. Nell, delivering the letter, sees Falk talking to a Chinaman in the same building, and she mentions the fact to King. He is interested, as he has just received information that a clever band of smugglers has been operating on the border. He reads Tom's letter and leaves with the girl, who stops him at the corner, where she recognizes Farrell talking to the same Chinaman. King's suspicions are aroused. He orders Nell home and shadows Farrell to the back door of a saloon, where he is discovered by the bartender, who makes an outcry and springs upon him. The noise attracts the attention of Farrell, and one of his gang who hastens into the room. But the detective breaks away. The next morning King intercepts an important telegram sent to Falk from Farrell. In the meantime Tom is dumbfounded to see one of the guards struck down by an outraged prisoner. Left alone with the fallen guard, he dons the guard's suit and makes his escape. King tracks Falk to a railway station, where Falk steps into a waiting auto and starts off, followed by the detective in another auto, which breaks down; he starts after Falk on foot. He sees an automobile and recognizes the occupant as Tom's sister, Nell. He quickly explains the situation and jumps in and starts in pursuit. Upon arriving at a cross road they see Falk's machine stop at a building, and the detective makes his way to bushes across the way from the house; he recognizes Falk and Farrell and two smugglers placing two Chinamen into the automobile. Hastily retreating he comes back with Nell, and arrives just as the machine starts off with the Chinamen. Telling the girl to remain and watch the building. King returns to the machine and follows the smugglers, who recognize him and open fire on him. In the wild chase which ensues the machines are heading toward the railroad track, where a freight train is seen approaching. The smugglers' machine is overtaken by the train, and the Chinamen killed, but the smugglers crawl away from the ruins of the wreck to the nearby woods. Tom suddenly comes upon the wounded smuggler, who begs him to assist him to the rear entrance of the cave. The detective, returning to where he left Nell, finds her gone. Fearing for her safety, he creeps up to the building and peers through the window, but is discovered by Falk and Farrell, who capture him and drag him to the cave. After binding the detective, Falk orders Farrell, who is under the influence of liquor, to watch the detective to see that he does not escape. One of the gang tells him that he has captured a girl hiding in the bushes watching the saloon, and Farrell upon being shown the girl, recognizes Nell and he drunkenly brags to her that he is the man who had shot the policeman and sent her brother to prison. The doctor, finding the detective, sets him free, and he tells Tom that his sister is a prisoner in the cave; he goes for help. Farrell returns and recognizes Tom. A struggle ensues, and Nell, hearing it, runs out of a chamber in the cave just as Farrell and the smuggler are binding the doctor. Nell tries to drag off Farrell, who turns on her; she scratches his face, which infuriates Farrell, and he and the smuggler drag her out of the cave, put her in a barrel and send it over the falls. The doctor's cries for help are heard by the injured smuggler, who, out of gratitude, crawls on hands to him and releases him; he pursues Farrell and Nell. In the meantime King is on his way to get help. He comes upon Falk, captures him, ties him to a tree, and then proceeds to the cave. As they enter the injured smuggler points to the opening of the cave; they leave in pursuit of the others and arrive just as the girl is put into the barrel and sent on its death dealing journey. The doctor and Farrell struggle right on the brink of a precipice, and Farrell, losing hold, goes headforemost into the falls. The detective meanwhile runs below the falls, and with the help of some workmen on the bank, pulls in the barrel and extricates the girl, unconscious but alive. The mother, son, daughter and detective are happy in the extreme at their reunion.

- An inspiring HDTV film, we probe the secrets of Niagara Falls. - Here we show Captain N. P. Nissen, formerly known as Captain Bowser, making a trip through the Whirlpool Rapids in his famous twenty-four foot craft known as the "Fool Killer." Captain Bowser is shown embarking in his boat at Niagara Falls, Ontario. After he carefully embarks, the "Fool Killer" is taken in tow by a rowboat and towed out into the stream. Here the captain is seen to go below the whaleback deck and close the hatch. Then the trip through the Rapids begins. One of our cameras, which was operated by a second photographer, was in waiting on a trolley car, and the progress of the "Fool Killer" is followed on its entire trip through the mad waters, and a most realistic picture was secured which absolutely defies description. The boat is seen to pitch, rock and plunge as it is carried at the will of the current in this most erratic of streams, and we secured an absolute picture of a feat that has been heretofore declared impossible to accomplish. This strip is of the highest value from a dramatic, artistic and historical standpoint.
- This is the 12th CBS Copperfield TV special, introduced by a voice offstage who describes the location of the escape that David Copperfield will perform in this special as his last challenge: the Niagara Falls. Just like his 5th special, this one is not introduced by a host. During the opening credits Copperfield reaches the stage from the backstage on his Harley Davidson, ready to use it to perform the first illusion. So, the illusions performed are: "Motorcycle Vanish", "Camera Trick" (aka "Camera Vanish"), "Cardiographic" (aka "Card From Paper"), "Slicer", "Misled" (aka "Pencil Through $100 Bill"), "Walking Through A Mirror", "Ring On The Hourglass", "Memories" (aka "The Attic") and then "Niagara Falls Challenge". For this feat Copperfield has his hands and feet chained to an axle which is almost entirely covered by a yellow steel box (leaving only his hands and legs exposed) and then suspended in midair by chains inside a cubic platform built over a raft. A Jet Ski is attached to the raft, and the raft is set on fire, raised from the lawn and dropped in the middle of the river, at about 152 meters, or 500 feet, from the falls. Copperfield has less than 60 seconds to escape from the box, detach the Jet Ski and rise upstream before the raft goes over the edge of the falls, with a vertical drop of about 51 meters, or 167 feet. This feat has been filmed in long take and is one of the few escapes no more repeated. This is the first CBS Copperfield TV special produced by his own production company DCDI Productions, that will also produce all the following ones.

- The film opens with love scenes between Esoomgit, a young warrior of the Iroquois tribe, and Red Doe, a chief's daughter, and one of the most beautiful of the Iroquois tribe. They return to the great camp, and Esoomgit seeks out her father, but he refuses his consent to her marriage with Esoomgit, stating that only a chief should marry his daughter. Great rivalry existed between the Iroquois and the Bison Indians, so when at a meeting of the two tribes Esoomgit excels himself by winning not only the marksmanship competition, but also the riding and swimming contests, it is only natural that he should be proclaimed a chief, and his marriage to Red Doe sanctioned by her father. It was now time for the annual sacrifice to propitiate the Spirit of the Cataract. This ceremony consisted in the selection by lot of one of the most beautiful daughters of the Iroquois and placing her in a canoe to float to death over the falls. The maidens take their seats in a circle. An arrow is shot high in the air. It falls at the feet of Red Doe. Esoomgit is horrified. His bride-to-be is the one selected for the sacrifice. He tries to dissuade her. Her strong sense of honor and duty to her tribe, however, prevails. She enters her canoe and paddles out from the shore. The swift current carries her along. She approaches the great Falls of Niagara. She is soon on the brink and then goes over the edge, engulfed in the great mass of water, to be ultimately washed upon the rocks below, a lifeless corpse. Esoomgit follows down the banks of the river disconsolate, he finally reaches her dead body. His life is spoiled. He wades out in the raging torrent and is quickly sucked under, but he knows he will meet his love in the Happy Hunting Grounds.

Wandering around the power plant on their own, they stumble into a restricted area where they are confronted by the caretaker of that area. Before he leaves to find the rest of their group, the caretaker leaves the two children there by themselves, telling them not to touch anything but especially the handle that will stop the flow of water over Niagara Falls. Tommy being Tommy, he doesn't believe it and pulls the handle. Not only does the water stop flowing over the falls, but the handle breaks off. They are pursued by a security guard who they believe want to put them in jail for what they did. They just want to return the handle to any adult who can help them, but every adult they approach dismisses them since the adults are all dealing with the more important issue of a power outage in the city since no electricity is being generated because the falls stopped.

- My name is Owen Bjorgan, and I am currently a student at the University of Guelph studying Biodiversity. I am set to graduate this April 2016, where I will be completely finished with school, tentatively speaking. Aside from school, I would consider myself an avid environmentalist, adventurer, photographer, writer, and musician. During my undergrad years, I put together a pilot episode for a project called 'Hidden Corners'. This is an independent filming project focusing on the '3 C's'- Conservation, Community, and Camaraderie. The concept of Hidden Corners is to explore the unusual, under-appreciated, and unseen natural wonders of a region in a highly informal but highly educational fashion. This potential series is a unique niche unto itself. It combines cinematography, adventure, comedy, original music, and environmental awareness all in one. This idea is organic and original, and I feel it could be a great catalyst for bettering our relationship with the the planet. The cinematography and music in the pilot episode 'Hidden Corners: NIAGARA' were created on no-budget work while I was a student in 2015/2016. Once I graduate, I am looking to utilize newfound time and potential finances to upgrade the quality of both immensely. I also look to seek even further training and experience in expedition skills. I have recently acquired a new camera which is one step forward for the time being.
- "A magnificent picture of the torrent of water in the lower rapids."
- One of the most complete, and perhaps the most beautiful illustrations of the great Niagara Falls. The views which it presents shows the Horseshoe Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls, the Whirlpool Rapids, the Niagara River and islands above the falls, the brink of the falls and all the points of interest hereabout. Then we take a trip on "The Maid of the Mist" to the Cave of the Winds, we follow the river in the electric train, and we view the international bridge, and when we have finished looking at this beautiful picture we feel quite as though we had been on the spot and seen it all in actuality, so wonderfully realistic and well-photographed is the picture.
