- Goober goes to visit his sisters. They run a truck stop together. Goober has trouble fitting in with everyone.

- Prolific backyard inventors Gary and Glenn Goober make a series of infomercials for their wild mostly failed inventions. They all come with an "It Might Work Grantee". Gary is the brains behind the inventions and the salesman, whilst Glen gets the job of being the test pilot (dummy) on every commercial. The demonstration always ends in disaster with Glenn being maimed, exploded or losing at least one limb. Inventions include the Hedgehog Brush - a pet and a brush at the same time. The Chahooahooa Hoop a device for keeping up to 8 small dogs within petting reach. The Toilet Car which runs on poo - "The more you go - the more you GO!" Pedal Powered Ice Cream Machine, Caterpillar eyebrows, Pogo-A-Gogo, Poridge Hat to name a few. The New Zealand series ran for two seasons and was the inspiration for kids reality series Let's Get Inventin' which brings kids own ideas to life. This was picked up internationally and has now screened in 150 countries.
- A ride-share driver tries to comfort a woman the morning after a one-night stand.
- A new dating service wants to test out its questionnaire that is meant to find people with common interests and pursuits. They focus on Mayberry and soon Goober is filling out the questionnaire. Opie tries to tell him that he's not answering the questionnaire correctly - such as saying he read 30 books a month when in fact he reads that many comic books - but Goober perseveres. Soon, he's on a date with the highly educated designer of the questionnaire and it becomes painfully apparent that they have little in common. As things develop however, she soon finds there may be some advantage to the lifestyle and attraction of small-town living.

At the hotel, Goober calls up Roy Swanson, an old friend from trade school, to see how he's doing and to brag a little. They meet at the show and Goober is surprised to find out that Roy is a senior vice-president in charge of engineering with Amalgamated Motors. After hearing about a fellow student, Goober tells Roy he has a chain of stations instead of just one. When Roy meets the Taylors and invites them to dinner, Goober says it's his treat and chooses the finest restaurant in Raleigh. At dinner, Goober, out of his element, tries to act like a big shot but things don't work out and Roy finds out the truth. As they prepare to go home the next day, Andy unsuccessfully tries to cheer up a dejected Goober, who feels like a complete failure. Stopping for gas, Andy gets a bottle of pop and sees Roy, covered in grease, working on a car. He calls Goober over and asks him if he'd like to say hello to an old friend but Goober declines, saying he wouldn't want to embarrass him.
- Goober annoys everyone when he becomes convinced his new beard makes him an intellectual.
- While Barney is on vacation in Raleigh, Andy needs to find someone to fill in as a temporary deputy. When Andy himself has to go to a sheriff safety conference for a few days, nobody is available, so he is stuck with Goober. Goober doesn't take the job seriously (still working at the filling station). It gets so bad that Goober begins to work on cars at the sheriff's office and even ends up completely dismantling a car right inside the courthouse.
- When Andy and Barney get tired of Goober tagging along on their dates, they decide to try teaching him how to act around women and then get him to ask a girl on a date. It proves to be quite a project.
- When Goober hears that Wally has the gas station up for sale, he decides the time has come for him to become a businessman. With Andy and Emmett acting as co-signers, he borrows the money and is soon the proud owner of his own business. His idea of being a business executive may be a bit off kilter however. His first act is to hire an employee to do the manual work while he does all of the 'thinking.' Only problem is, he's not much of businessman and Andy and Emmett start to wonder what they have got themselves into when Goober starts to make some pretty serious errors, like forgetting to order gas. When Goober reads about a well-educated man who lost millions when he became head of his company, he loses all confidence in himself.
- Goober holds a contest at the filling station. An error at the printer's causes one coupon to be worth $200 instead of $10 or less.
- Goober's girlfriend Flora fills in for him at the gas station when he goes on a fishing trip. When Wally sees how she brings in the customers, he fires Goober and hires Flora.
- When Gomer's cousin Goober shows up in the barracks and puts on one of Gomer's uniforms and then wanders the base, everyone sees the name Pyle on the uniform and thinks Gomer is losing his mind.
- Jesse's annoying alarm clock keeps disrupting her dreams about Diego. Since Darren can't afford a place of his own at the moment, Jesse's very cute brunette friend from work, Carrie, suggests he stay at her place, but the dumb-ass just declines because he thinks he wouldn't get women then! Diego asks Jesse to go to movies with him, but her father objects. Jesse decides to ignore his opinion. Carrie and Jesse's other friend from work, the sexually aggressive Linda, help her choose something to wear. Then something unlikely happens on the date.
- The Acme Oil Company is offering its dealers a prize of a vacation in Hawaii if their dealers double their sales in a month. Goober goes all out and doubles his sales only to discover that the contest starts the following month.
- Goober meets a woman at the telephone company and takes her out on a date. An incident at the restaurant makes her the hero, and not him, which wounds his pride.
- Goober's brother is returning to Mayberry to visit him. He hopes his brother will be impressed with his accomplishments but those hopes are soon dashed when he discovers his brother is an important engineer for the space program.
- Goober opens his gas station in a new location closer to Mayberry. Things become complicated when dinosaur bones are discovered on the site.
- Goober's niece comes for a visit and he still expects the young girl he's used to seeing. But she's now a teenager and Goober can't get used to the fact she's growing up.
- After being nominated to serve as a church elder, Goober accidentally gets involved in a gambling game using the church offering.
- Goober leads a hike and gets lost in a cave.
