- A victory over neighboring state Vaishai has always eluded Magadh Samrat Ajaatshatru despite being winning and taking control over all neighboring states. He attacks Vaishali only get defeated again. Wounded, lost and on the run, Ajaatshatru dons the guise of a Vaishali soldier and takes shelter with a woman named Amrapali and they fall in love with each other. Ajaatshatru finds an ally in Senapati Balbadhra Singh and both start a plot to gain control of Vaishali. Vaishali Samrat comes to know about Ajaatshatru and Amrapali's liaison with him, he sentences her with a death penalty. Ajaatshatru is enraged at this, he gathers together his armies and storms the unsuspecting Vaishali and virtually burns the city down, killing almost everyone in it. This accomplished, he rushes to free his beloved from the dungeons. He does set her free but it is not the same Amrapali; this Amrapali is quite different. She is not at all thrilled to be in the presence of her conqueror lover. She teaches him what he won in the battle ground but what he lost in reality.
- Mohan and Asha are in love and eventually marry in a private temple much against Mohan's parents' wishes. Mohan goes out of town for some months. Upon his return his parents lies to him that Asha is died. Mohan marries Seema and has two children. Mohan is employed with the local municipality. After 10 years Asha takes over as collector and Mohan's boss. Asha helps Mohan and his family in best possible ways and wants the truth to never come out. However, rumors start to circulate about Mohan and Asha. Seema at first disregards these rumors but later comes to know the truth. She decides to end her life but Asha saves her and loses hers' in the process.

He turns alcoholic. Jwalaprasad finds Manju and brings her at his home to serve Mrs.Jwalaprasad, who is a dumb handicap now because of an accident. Jwalaprasad asks Manju to convince Rajesh to marry Lata. Upon Manju's insistence, Rajesh agrees. During marriage rituals, Lata's house catches fire and Lata & her kid are trapped in. Rajesh saves them but Lata dies of an injury when she tries to stop Rajesh. Shocked Mrs.Jwalaprasad regains her voice and tells all about her atrocities on Manju, to everyone. Rajesh and Manju are united again.
- Orphaned Purnima lives a poor lifestyle with her maternal uncle and cruel aunt. She is in love with Prakash and both plan to marry soon. when she goes to meet Prakash at his place of employment to seek a donation, she meets with Vasant, the son of the owner of Ratan Lal & Co., who takes an instant liking to her. Vasant convinces his mom, Sharda, to approach Purnima's aunt and convince her that he is the most suitable groom for her - by hook or by crook. Sharda succeeds in doing so, and shortly thereafter Purnima and Vasant get married. Purnima convinces Prakash to marry Vandana Mehra who is in love with him, and he does so. Shortly thereafter both Purnima and Vandana get pregnant and give birth to sons, Anil and Sunil respectively. Following a violent altercation, Vandana and Vasant are killed in a car accident, Ratan is forced to pay off Vasant creditors and as a result loses everything and moves into a small hut. He convinces Purnima to re-marry Prakash, but leave Anil with them, and she does so. Five years later, Sharda passes away, and Ratan asks Purnima to take Anil with her. Both Anil and Sunil get along well, however, one day Prakash sees Anil stealing money from his coat, and it is then he asks Purnima to make a choice between Anil and him. The question remains who will Purnima choose?
- SPOILER: Arjun, a hot headed but soft hearted man, always finds himself in situations that others take him as a bad person. His childhood teacher Masterji is the only person understands him & appreciates his good quality and Arjun follows his instruction/wishes completely. Arjun loves Aarti and wants to marry her but Aarti's father does not endorse this alliance and decides to get her marry to someone else. This time Arjun is not lenient and does not even listen to Masterji. Arjun and Margret run away and commit suicide jumping down a mountain.

Professor and Rajesh are now at loggerhead. Finally, professor realizes his mistake and agrees for Rajesh and Poonam's marriage.

Dilip tries to assure him that he is out of the alliance with Nayantara and is in love with a nice girl who he plans to marry with. Rai Bahadur asks him to bring that girl in. Helpless Dilip ropes in Kiran. Rai Bahadur likes Kiran and hires her to take care of his house and himself until Dilip marries her. Unwillingly, Dilip co-op with the situation but falls in love with Kiran as he is now aware of what Nayantara wants. But he cannot marry Kiran as Nayantara starts blackmailing him at the pretext of some photographs she has in her possession. She threatens to sue Dilip but Ashok Kumar comes in and saves Dilip.
- Badal, a clown villager and Kammo are childhood neighbors and grown up playing with each other. They never knew when they fell in love while growing up. They want to marry but Kammo's father is against this marriage as Badal is doing nothing for living. Kammo asks Badal to go to city to work and earn. While Badal is leaving in the late night a sick & old relative arrives. Badal asks him to rest in his room and to inform his family members about his migration in the morning. The room catches fire because of ignorance of the old man and he is charred to death but Badal's family, Kammo and all villagers take Badal as dead as they do not know the truth. Badal joins Indian army and returns after few years/months only to find that Kammo is married to wealthy Thakur. Rather than leaving Kammo on her own, he decides to take revenge, befriends Thakur, pretends loving Thakur's sister and stays around Kammo. Upon knowing Kammo & Badal's past affair Thakur shoot Badal but Kammo takes the bullet on her chest and dies.
- Seema and Uma belongs to a Thakur family which earns their bread & butter through stage & dance performances and this leaves Seema disowned by groom's father, right at the time of marriage rituals. Ashok, son of Diwan Saheb, marries Seema, then & there, to save their faces. Diwan disapproves this marriage and Ashok leaves his estate. He stays in a small rented house with Seema & Uma and starts doing odd jobs. Seema gives birth to their son, Munna. Ashok is diagnosed with an ophthalmic complicacy and need Rs.3000 for an operation which they could not manage despite many efforts. Seema writes to Diwan for money for Ashok's eye operation. Diwan agrees on a condition that Seema leaves Ashok alone. Seema goes on to commit suicide but is saved by a man. The suicide attempt makes her loose her memory. She starts working as nurse at Dr.Balraj's hospital. Ashok meets with a car accident and admitted to the hospital where his eyes were also operated. Uma goes to drop Munna to his grandfather and leave. But Diwan takes her as Ashok's wife and asks her to stay with him. She agrees for the sake of Munna. Dr.Balraj wants to marry Seema but she gains her memory back before the marriage takes place. Ashok has his operation successful. He finds Seema at Dr.Balraj's place. Diwan accepts Seema as his daughter in law.

Ruma's lawyer Ram Sinha (Shatrughan Sinha) uncovers the truth and convinces Ruma to accept her crime. Ruma appears before judiciary, charged and arrested.
- Two penniless friends--modest, simple guy Dilip and happy-go-lucky Raj--arrive in the city in search of jobs. They get good-paying job at a theater company--accidentally. Both fall in love with the theater company's heroine Chitra, but Chitra falls for Raj. Raj gets an exorbitant amount of wealth through a will, from a deceased distant relative. Raj goes to claim his wealth but falls into the trap of Rama and her father, who eye Raj's wealth. Dilip tries to warn Raj of this trap, but Raj won't listen. Devastated Chitra falls ill. Dilip, with a friend's help, plays a trick to make Raj understand Rama and her father's intentions. He succeeds and Raj marries Chitra.
- Circa the Mughal Rule in the Persian Gulf, a noble man asks his soldiers to bring a man trustworthy enough to commit a crime. The soldiers go to the Chor Bazar, where they find a beggar-cum-thief, Yusuf Ustad, and bring him before the noble man. The noble man asks Yusuf to abduct and kill the child, who will be the future king. Greedy Yusuf accepts the offer, but is unable to kill the cherubic child, and ends up abducting him, leaving evidence in blood to show that the child has been killed. The young prince is thus brought on to the streets of this Chor Bazar where he will grow up, and be destined to spend the rest of his life as a thief and beggar.
- Sohan and Raju are two brothers. Raju works for a tea garden in Ooty and Sohan works for a textile mill and stays with his blind father, mother, wife Sarju, younger sister Pratima and son Kundan in Mumbai. Sohan & Sarju do not take well care so Raju leaves their house with his parents and Pratima. Barkha, housemaid of Rai Bahadur Badrinath, helps Raju find an accommodation and job in mill. Badrinath's daughter Sarita falls in love with Raju. Raju is reluctant but finally falls for her. Badrinath arranges Sarita's marriage with Premnath, brother in law of Sohan but Sarita finds out that he is already married with Kamla. She ropes in Kamla to marry Premnath and reveals the truth during the marriage rituals. Badrinath decides for Raju to marry Sarita. But Raju is competing in a boxing bout to win Rs.2000 for his father's eye operation. Raju win's the bout and reward money. Angry for disrupting her brother's marriage, Sarju sends Kundan with an acid bottle to throw it on Raju but Sohan saves Raju and loses his eyes. The incident unites the entire family again.
- About a dozen Indian soldiers, led by Captain Ranjeet, and an Indian scientist, are captured by Chinese army. One of the soldiers has a microfilm with all the Chinese army secrets. Ranjeet and his team needs to take the scientist and the microfilm safe, to the India soil. They face difficulties, one after the other, but succeed at the end.

Soon he finds that he is love with an orphan girl Kamla and Asha with Inspector Shyam. However, his job will be an obstacle for his sister's marriage into a respectable family, so he decides to leave Verma's job and start afresh. He lands in many jobs but his infamous past always haunts him. In order to get Asha married in a respectable manner he borrows some money from Verma. He fixes Asha's marriage but Verma wants his money back in two days' time. Reluctantly he steals required money from Seth Motiram's house and goes to Verma's place to pay his money back. He has an altercation with Verma and Verma falls from a height. Dying Verma names Raja for his conditions. Police arrests Raja for murdering Verma. Motiram comes to Raja's house and finds that Raja and Asha are his children. It is proved in the court that Raja did steal money but did not kill Verma. He gets eight years imprisonment for his crime.

- After completion of his higher education Ashok returns to India to stay with his widowed father. He falls in love with Kavita who after a few altercations falls for him too. They are set to get married now. Ashok goes to attend one of his friends' marriage with a girl, Sheila. But groom's father stops marriage rituals abruptly sighting the reason that Sheila is a pervert, and goes back. Ashok marries Shiela to help Shiela's parents save face. Ashok's marriage does not go down well with Kavita and Ashok's father but now Ashok cannot disown his legally married wife. Kavita now does not want to marry but her sister & brother in law asks Ashok to pursue Kavita to marry another boy they have chosen for her. Upon Ashok's insistence, Kavita agrees but asks Ashok to attend her marriage. Ashok comes to attend marriage with Shiela. The groom comes out to be Chander, who was responsible for getting Sheila declared a pervert and deceived her. Ashok tries to stop Kavita's marriage with this crook. Chander attacks Ashok with a knife but Sheila takes the knife on her body. Chander abducts Kavita and runs away. Ashok saves Kavita. On a hospital bed, Sheila asks Ashok to marry Kavita and dies.
