- PETA has done a new investigation into a so-called "free-range" farm that convinces consumers that hens lived happily and peacefully. This farm supplies eggs to Nellie's Free Range Eggs, and the eggs are labeled as "certified humane" and sold at stores like Harris Teeter, Walmart, and Whole Foods. What PETA's eyewitness saw was far from "free-range", since hens are crammed tightly together, with restricted space that prevents them from performing natural types of behavior, and their access outdoors is severely restricted. Hens also have their beaks cut off, are missing feathers, and are denied everything meaningful to them. Death is also common.
