- In the Gironde estuary, Christian Brunet telephones his father Maurice from his fishery on piles to spend the day fishing together. During the conversation, Maurice hears someone greeting his son and an argument, but communication cuts. Arrived on the spot, Maurice discovers the lifeless body of Karine Lalande, one of his son's colleagues at work, but not a trace of his son.

Shortly after, Farnese tells girlfriend Catherine Alfonsi, he must leave to see his sick mother. Three hours later, Pascal Mergault, friend of Farnese's, returns home and finds his corpse. Nadia states he was tortured and then shot with his own gun at close range twice, one of them in the heart. A young waitress becomes the main suspect.
