- While on vacation at a resort, Benjy claims he witnessed a murder. Monk believes him, but with no body and the cleanest crime scene Monk has ever seen, it's going to be hard to convince everybody else.
- Detective Murdoch investigates the murder of Dolly Capshaw, a mid-wife who, it turns out, was also an abortionist. Using new techniques such as fingerprints (or finger marks as they are known at the time) and handwriting analysis, Murdoch eliminates a number of suspects but has proof that a self-righteous and nosy neighbor, Mr. Golding, was in the house. Missing from Capshaw's desk is her register of clients, a large red book with the image of a dragon on the cover. Murdoch's investigation involves many people whose lives had, in one way or another, crossed with Capshaw's including Ettie Weston, who is no longer a prostitute but is now on the stage with a mentalist act and Maude Pedlow, the wife of a prominent Superior Court judge. Meanwhile, Constable George Crabtree is in training for the Toronto police boxing tournament under the tutelage of Inspector Ramsgate.

- Geoffrey is in jail after c/trashing Ellen's party. Oliver's ghost shares the cell. Kate and Jack grow closer. Ellen's young boyfriend wants revenge.
- It's opening night for Hamlet and though Jack has shown promise, insidious words from Richard send him running. Ellen and Geoffrey finally talk about the breakdown and the events leading up to it, and if they can find their star, the show must go on!
- The curse of Macbeth kicks in when the director of Romeo and Juliet breaks her neck, forcing Geoffrey to invite show-dog Darren Nichols back from Berlin to fill in. Juliet meets her Romeo and sparks do not fly. Ellen and Geoffrey's brief experiment in domesticity ends. Badly.

As the two hunters capture a bounty, they cross paths with a rival hunter named Callista "Callie" Larkadia. Meanwhile, Percy docks at Clarke Station near Io and Rudolpho, now down on his luck, tries to get his ship back. Elsewhere, a Raider named Jimmi Zavras, attacks a colony on Pandora killing one of Travis' friends. Travis hires the Tulip to investigate the attack and encounters Zavras who wants revenge against Travis for betraying Clan Verrun which he once was part of.
