- A laidback teacher provides needed guidance about life for a special class of exceptional students.
- Dennis dates a girl who is hiding a secret about her personal life.
- Dennis teases Arvid by playing a tape of him snoring and calling his nose deformed. Moore tells Arvid that his snoring can be corrected with surgery. Arvid decides to do it but also considers a nose job . When he's about to have the surgery, he's under the anesthetic he's still uncertain if he wants the nose job. When he wakes up, his nose is bandaged and the doctor went out of town. So he doesn't know if he had the nose job. Worried that he might look worse, he doesn't take the bandage off.
- The school year begins with three members of the IHP no longer there. And three new students, Alex, Viki and Aristotle joining the class. And the old students don't exactly welcome them with open arms.
- Arvid and Sarah each suffering losses on the same day leads the class to some introspection.
- Samuels wants someone from the school to enter a dance competition. Alex and T.J. volunteer. But when Alex fails a test, Moore says he can't compete. But Samuels really wants to win this one, so he asks Moore to let him take a make up test. Moore at first refuses. So Arvid offers to fill in. But Moore reconsiders so Alex takes the test during the competition. And Arvid is nervous about having to dance.
- Dennis and Arvid create an experiment that qualifies for a NASA competition in Houston but tensions soon arise between the two of them.
- While in Houston working with NASA on their contest-winning project, Dennis takes credit for a discovery Arvid makes.
- T.J. is so desperate to be allowed to join the IHP that a guy offers to help her. But she later finds out the man is the Devil and he is going to collect.
- Darlene's grandmother's ring goes missing and the class suspects Alex of taking it.
- Eric and Simone, both secretly wanting to see other people, lie to each other about their plans and eventually have to face the truth after they find themselves at the same art museum with their dates.
- Viki thinks Mr. Moore is the one for her. And Alan thinks she's the one for him. And he freaks out when he finds who she thinks is the one for her.
- Dr. Samuels asks the IHP to help a student athlete get ready for college entrance exams. But it's during one of the sessions that they discover that he's illiterate. They try to help him so that he could take the test. But Mr. Moore upon learning of if, tells them this is just a temporary fix. He tries to convince the student he needs to learn how to read which coming out and admitting it.
- Aristotle gets job videotaping a wedding. Later an FBI agent approaches him asking to see the video he shot. Aristotle asks why he wants to see it, he doesn't answer him. So Aristotle is hesitant to do what the agent says. The class wonders why the agent wants to see the video and when Aristotle tells them the name of the people who got married which is Italian, they jump to the conclusion that the people who got married are mobbed up.
- The IHP get lost driving back from an academic bowl and stop at a truck stop. After the students insult everything from a festival to the character and intelligence of the locals, Billy pits the two sides in game show-style competition.
- Alex lies to his friends about his relationship with Simone.
- Billy decides to try finding a date in the personal ads.
- Viki finds her birth-mother with Billy's help but her happiness doesn't last long.
- Alan gets a chance to go to Harvard and is acting like a jerk. But when the man who was arranging it dies before he could. But even after learning of this he continues to act like he is going.
- Jasper's parents thinking of him as a child won't let him alone so they get a babysitter. And the person who shows up is Sarah. And he pretends that he has a sibling. And that's when they get close.
- Billy and Bernadette take dance lessons.
- Mr. Moore and the IHP decides to put on a production of Hair. But one of the teachers tries to stop it.
- The gifted students save the school production of "Hair."
- When Arvid "rescues" a chimp from a pet store, the IHP stages a mock court room hearing to aggressively plead with the store owner not to sell the chimp. The only problem is they confuse the store owner with an evaluator from the Board of Education.
- Alan goes to a party. The next day he brags to the class that he hooked up with a model. They don't believe him. But she shows up to return something he left with her. But it seems he told her he's a teacher.
- It's time for school prom and Arvid is among the ones who will choose who will be the prom queen, but he unwittingly tells Viki he'll support her. And he also inadvertently tells Rhonda the same thing. And Darlene threatens him if he doesn't. When it's time for the queen to be chosen, Arvid tries to keep his word and support the girls but Samuels says he can't do that. And when Samuels says they might no be able to choose one so Arvid suggests that the prom queen to be abolished. The girls are bummed that the prom queen was canceled and when they get together they talk and learn that Arvid promised each of them they would be queen. So they decide to get back at him.
- Mr. Moore organizes a college fair while the students experience anxiety over making commitments.
- When Arvid tries to land a girl by being deceitful. Mr. Moore tells him of the time Arvid trying to impress a girl claimed to be the head of school's "film society". And when the girl suggests a film that no one knows, they scramble to find it.
- When the class are on a boat Simone goes overboard and Dennis saves her. And when she acts beholden to him, he can't help but milk it for all it's worth. But Moore figures out the truth about what happened?
- Eric and Charlie compete for a night-school teacher.
- When Dennis plays a joke on T.J. in front of the class, she challenges him to a fight. Mr. Moore then decides to mediate between Dennis who plays too many jokes and T.J. who takes everything too seriously.

- Former child star "Poofie" McGuire comes to the hospital to research a role for an upcoming sitcom, and he proceeds to irritate the entire staff. Meanwhile, Julie tries to locate the brother of a dying man, and Dr. Riskin is pursued by an obnoxious mother whose son is suffering from high blood pressure.
- Jack "donates" $20,000 for the new maternity wing in hopes of getting Annie transferred. But he only ends up getting himself transferred - to the morgue.
- Paco works for a gangster who can help get Paco's uncle out of Cuba; meanwhile, Gina dates an attractive co-worker who also has a crush on Hank.
