She points out that she is in poor health and that her daughter will inherit the farm when she's gone. Harvey already has a girlfriend, Sophy, who quite likes him. He makes his choice but realizes too late it may not have been the right one.

In the commune, the hippie mounts the steps and meets a girl who wants him to fix a sewing machine. He says he'll do it later.
