They find her and use her as bait to bring out Viper through the help of Assistant Director Paulson. Conrad and Paulson ask Barker to come in and clear his name but Barker is suspicious and sets a meet with Paulson - only to find that she has double crossed him. Barker leaves and tells Ellis he has to have some time on his own but he will contact him again when he is ready.
- Barker goes on a buy to get hold of stolen plates but while there his contact is shot dead. Although Barker was miked up, Ellis only heard what sounded like Barker was going to kill the contact. However, when Ellis gets to the meet Barker tells him the contact was taken out by a sniper. Barker then realizes he was set up and goes on the run. A new investigator, Robicheaux, is brought in to track down Barker and Ray is re-assigned. Ellis and Conrad work to try and prove Barker's innocence but they are running out of time as Robicheaux steps up the pressure. Ray decides to do his own investigation and finds evidence that Barker was framed. He goes with Ellis and Conrad to bring him in but Barker goes with Ellis instead, and tells him he's not turning himself in and goes to look for who framed him.

Meanwhile, Barker pursues ex-FBI agent Gordon Freed and who he suspects of being involved in Red Gauntlet much to the horror or Ellis who then witnesses Freed being blown up in his car.

She follows their instructions but Baker only allows her to take half the jewels so that they hold to their deal of providing the antidote for her son. But the jewel thieves have Susan's house watched and attack her when Baker leaves and take the remaining jewels. Baker and Ellis trace Matt's infection to a lab and find the culprits which leads to the recovery of the jewels and Matt's antidote being found.
- Charles goes undercover to bring down Romanian Roman Petrescu who is involved in human trafficking but who pleads diplomatic immunity anytime the FBI get close. Meanwhile, Ellis becomes involved with one of Petrescu's prostitutes, Nadia, and tries to locate her son who was sold by Petrescu previously. Elsewhere, Ray continues to pressure Ellis into bringing Charles down.

Meanwhile he tries to assist Barker in breaking out drugs baron Jimmy Casserly from police custody so that they can do a drugs trade with him in order to gain better evidence and re-arrest him but they find that an ex-police lieutenant has a person vendetta against Casserly and goes out of his way to hinder Barker. Elsewhere, Ellis finally gets to go on a date with Rose.

So now the group of friends must decide what to do with Tess as several of them want her to pay for Alex's death, but others aren't comfortable killing her. They must also trust that Isabel and Max's parents will not betray them to the government agents in pursuit.
- Michael witnesses an Air Force plane crash into a UFO in the desert. The Air Force reports that the pilot died, but Michael searches for him, helping the pilot's daughter to learn the truth. While Jesse is out of town with her father, Isabel spends time with her mother. Both are interrogated about their lives by her parents.

Everyone in the South Suburbs of Chicago already thinks he and Karen are "officially" engaged. Dave's buddy Marv knows just what will help Dave forget the dilemma for a while. He takes Dave, Dave's brother Ben and their friend Al out to party on the town all weekend. Marv figures that if this is Dave's last weekend before he pops the question, it had better be one he won't soon forget. But Dave figures that if he does marry Karen, he may never get a chance to try something else, and the rest of his life won't be much more than night after night in these same bars. And it seems that everyone they talk to has an opinion - waitresses, blues singers, and even a family friend who wants to give Dave a job to help support his new wife. Dave finally decides that he does love Karen enough to marry her, so he's ready to go through with the proposal. But, in the back of his mind, he also hopes that she loves him enough to help him grow and to consider leaving the South Suburbs with him. Karen is surprised that Dave wants to change - surprised enough to rethink getting married. If Dave wants a fresh start with his life, it's going to have to be a fresh start with Karen too.
