Much to his socially-prominent position he is very disgusted as he must now keep a guard of her. Soon, he finds himself in jail and Julie has his flat keys. Julie spends the night in his flat, and Michael gets out of jail in time to hurry home where Julie is just leaving. His fiancée Roberta shows up, and Roberta isn't thrilled to find another woman leaving Michael's apartment early in the morning, so the engagement is broken. This delights her father. Actually, it kind of delights Michael but he is a gentleman and wouldn't say so. Could all of this have been a planned scheme by some party unknown?

When they meet again at a reception in Washington, Betsy consents to marriage, but Napoleon wants Jerome to marry into European Royalty and demands that Jerome do what is in the best interests of France.

The geometric dance arrangements used in the Vallee, Durante and Cliff Edwards "Every Day Is Father's Day" was not cause for Busby Berkeley to lose any sleep.
- A group of tough city kids have 'graduated' from reform school and are assigned to a "Boy's Town" type of inmate self-government city shelter. The shelter is run by Hiram Krispan (Grant Mitchell), a crooked superintendent, assisted by Buck Caesar (Stanley Fields), an ex-racketeer on probation. Buck enjoys trying to straighten out the kids and joins with them and social workers Beth Avery (Margaret Lindsay) and Jim Donahue (Ronald Reagan), in getting Krispan removed from his job.

But Jan soon starts missing lessons and rehearsals and hits the bottle so the partnership between Al and Jan ends. Soon Jan is also unemployed and Al pays the professor to take him to Italy to see if he will be able to sing Opera.
