When Elliott arrives, Tisha claims to be a big fan of his work. In response, he fills her in on how Jack hired him off the street just as he was about to give up on his dream of being a fashion photographer. Meanwhile, Maya again loses consciousness after Elliott graphically describes his own blood donation. As Maya regains consciousness in time to help the hair-brained Shannon, Nina shows up for her turn with Tisha.

- When Finch's newly single mom shows up, he tries to fix her up with Jack so that he can be part of Jack's family. He sabotages Jack's current relationship for the plan to take effect. Elliot learns that a once great photographer has been slumming at Nina's, he's now a 'down and out'. So Elliot tries to help him.
- Finch dates a female boxer with a jealous ex-girlfriend. Elliott, Jack and Nina fool Maya into believing that they're smarter than she is.
- So she can have a good photo for her company ID, Jack suggests that Maya arrange a session with Elliott. And while Elliott isn't keen on the idea, Jack orders him to agree. When Maya complains that she's never really taken a good picture, Elliott suggests it's because she's always sabotaging herself. So, when he asks her to imagine an erotic encounter with a handsome man, Maya relaxes enough to provide for some good shots. Meanwhile, Finch creates a new employee manual for the magazine. While pleased with the results, Maya decides the photo is too sexy and sends the wrong message. However, later that night, she dreams of being seduced by Elliott in his studio. And when seeing Elliott again jogs her memory of the dream, it doesn't take Finch long to realize what's happened and for Maya to warn him against breathing a word of it to anyone.
- As Nina faces the grim prospect of an income tax audit, Jack is suffering from a case of writer's block that's keeping him from completing his memoirs. Pressed by Maya, Jack reveals that he's stuck at the point where he and the magazine's founding partner parted ways. And that's when Maya discovers that her dad is guilty of pushing Herb aside after they launched the first issue of Blush. Meanwhile, Nina asks Elliott for help by taking IRS auditor Janet Hansen on a date. Realizing that Maya is right, Jack tracks down Herb at the Connecticut toy shop he opened after leaving the magazine, and finds that he still holds a grudge after thirty years. To make good for having forced him out, Jack then hires him as the magazine's new managing editor. But on his first day at work, Herb can't seem to make up his mind about anything. Meanwhile, Elliott's lack of interest in Janet jeopardizes Nina's chances at surviving her audit unscathed.

Maya asks him to pretend to remember Nina when he meets her.
- Jack wants to write a novel but ends up using a ghostwriter. With him out of the office, Nina, Elliot, and Maya compete for power over the magazine. No one produces much of anything related to quality.
- Maya's high school friend tells her he is responsible for a bad rumor that caused her unpopularity. He's come back to make it up to her. Jack dreams about Kevin killing him. His nightmares continue until he confronts Kevin in an elevator.
- Elliott is made to realize that he was a nerd in high-school. Now he feels even more unsure about himself 20 years later.
- Finch's honesty magnifies his differences with Adrienne.
- Maya learns of Elliot's criminal past. Nina dates a famous television actor, whose rough-n-tough nomad character melts away once she discovers he lives with his mother. Mamma's not about to share her boy with another woman.
- Maya tells Finch's girlfriend, Rhonda to form an emotional bond with him. Jack shares with Nina his ability to charm the office cleaning woman.
- Jack wants Maya to get along with Nina so he has her arrange her birthday party. Jealous of Elliott's conquests, Finch bets him $1000 he couldn't succeed without his fashion photographer rep, requiring to identify himself as a shampoo boy.
- Despite the staff's efforts to celebrate, Finch has no intention of being recognized on Secretary's Day. And while Jack insists on a gift to mark the occasion, Finch does his best to make it clear that he doesn't consider himself a secretary. Meanwhile, Nina considers having plastic surgery to increase her breast size. As Jack is working on an important speech, Finch approaches him with some questions about his job. After Jack does little to ease his fears, Maya accuses her father of being insensitive as she tries to get him to understand Finch's concerns. Then, after an accidental fall lands him in the zoo's gorilla pit, Finch is suddenly a celebrity. Although Jack warns that it won't last, Finch tries to capitalize on his fame with an appearance on Jay Leno's television show.
- Jack tricks Maya into getting a neighbor to move so he can build a steam room at work.
- Maya and Nina have a quarrel over the intentions of giving out invitations to the bridal shower.
- Maya helps Finch write a poem so he won't flunk out of college. Jack is impressed by the poem and rewards Finch even though Maya is responsible for it. Nina gets a chance to model again for Vicky's new idea for an article, which brings out a terrible side in both her and Elliott.

- The Blush staff agrees to corporate therapy after their bickering drives off a client. Dr. Drake complicates their teamwork when he advances Finch and Nina to blue binders, while Maya and Elliot sill have their red ones.
- When Maya finds herself attracted to one of the magazine's new researchers. Nina tells her to go after him. Even telling her to use whatever attributes she has. Later the guy files a complaint against her for sexual harassment. Jack tries to handle it and gives the staff a course on how to act appropriately. Maya later tries to apologize to the guy but because Jack told her to wear a wire without giving her the insulator, she's constantly getting shocked which makes it seems she's coming on to him.
- With greed running rampant at the office, Maya suggests that everyone pool their Christmas present money and give it to someone in need. Dismissing Nina's suggestion that they donate it to her favorite male stripper, Maya decides to give the money to Jesus Santos, the building's night janitor. Although led to believe that he's going to use the gift to open his own business, Maya is stunned when Jesus falls in love with her and uses the money to buy her a series of lavish gifts to prove it. Meanwhile, Finch begs to be invited along for a Caribbean swimsuit shoot with Elliott and a dozen beautiful models. When his pleas to be included in the trip fail to do any good, Finch decides to turn up the heat on Elliott by stealing his favorite camera lens. And though Elliott tries to resist, the lure of his lucky lens proves too strong and he invites Finch along.
- Vicky and Finch fight for Jacks approval. Nina loses a crazy woman in the office. Elliott asks Vicky out and is annoyed when she turns him down.
- A Woody Allen impersonator is drawn to Maya after she pens a favorable article about the filmmaker; Jack loses his sight for a day.
