- We are in the fateful year of Yugoslavia's first free elections since World War II: 1990. It is the hour of the nationalists, and the collapse of the multi-ethnic state is only a matter of time. When Slovenia and Croatia declare independence, Yugoslavia sinks into civil war. There are mass expulsions, systematic rapes and brutal murders in Croatia and Bosnia. For a long time, the international community merely looks on idly.

- Cityfoxes and rural foxes in Germany live very separate lives. This documentary takes a close look at how they manage at all and what challenges these animals face respectively.
- Ghosts and spectres - Mysterious creatures from the afterlife. Since the dawn of time, people have believed in life after death, ancestors coming back to visit us, and unfortunate souls lingering between two worlds. But is it actually possible to come back to Earth as an ethereal spirit? Researchers are attempting to add some tangibility to this seemingly incomprehensible notion. Even today, new stories of revenants or other ghostly apparitions continue to surface in forgotten places, from the haunted castle in Schallaburg, Austria, to the former tuberculosis sanatoriums near Germany's capital Berlin, or the abandoned Grand Waldlust Hotel in Southern Germany.
- 2019TV EpisodeDuring the Cold War, tensions between East and West mount alarmingly. In consequence, western intelligence services shift their focus on East Germany as the Warsaw Pact's major deployment zone. Nowhere else did western services get as close to Soviet military equipment. Their prime targets are missiles, nuclear depots and airbases. At the same time, the KGB, as well as Soviet military intelligence, were sending their spies to reconnoitre NATO forces in the West. The game of spies was in full swing.

- Eastern Poland is one of Europe's last wild regions; the Biebrza lowlands make up the biggest national park in Poland and are of the utmost value for beavers, otters and countless aquatic birds.
- When Russia takes up arms, the world holds its breath. Over centuries, the immense empire has been shaped by battles won - and lost - and those who led the forces that fought in them. Peter the Great, founder of the magnificent St Petersburg, used guns and cannons to redraw the continent's maps. His descendants in the House of Romanoff went from commanding the largest army in the world to defeat at the hands of the Bolsheviks. The newly-founded Soviet Union withstood Hitler's murderous machine, only to inflict cruelty and terror on its own people. After the demise of the Soviet Union, Putin wages a cunning yet camouflaged campaign to revitalize Russian imperialism - if necessary, by force. With unseen archive footage, insights from international experts, and visually stunning maps, this series tells the compelling story of a nation's fight to achieve its goals.
- Some just counted tanks, others stole blueprints for bombs. The Cold War was the battleground for thousands of spies and spotters. Even the Allied Military Missions in Germany doubled as covert observers in the spying game. Whether military observers, spies or traitors - they all acted as suppliers of intelligence for their masters in Washington or Moscow. Many of them risked their lives, and quite a few lost it. Yet, did the spying game really contribute to keep the Cold War cold in the end?
- Scientists hope that the reintroduction of bears to Europe will have a positive impact on the entire ecosystem, but is Europe ready to coexist with brown bears?
- During the Cold War, the superpowers mobilized thousands of spies and spotters to lift the enemy's secrets. The three-part program The Spying Game takes a close look at this era of rising tensions between East and West. Part 1 examines Germany's role as battleground for countless spies - all acting as suppliers of intelligence for their masters in Washington or Moscow. In Part 2, the game of spies is in full swing. While western intelligence services shift their focus to East Germany as the Warsaw Pact's major deployment zone, the KGB and Soviet military intelligence send their spies to reconnoitre NATO forces in the West. Part 3 reconstructs the events of autumn 1983: the Cold War is heading towards a dangerous crisis as NATO practices new procedures of nuclear release. Moscow's secret services are on high alert.
- We begin with the search for traces in Yugoslavia's prehistory. Under the influence of changing rulers and empires, the country's structure is formed over centuries as home to five nationalities with three languages and four different religions. However, in the early 20th century, the first ethnic conflicts begin. Only after World War II does the popular hero and captivating dictator Tito succeed in uniting a peaceful Yugoslavia. But after his death, the country plunges into chaos.
- Madagascar is an ultimate island: Nowhere else on Earth exist so many weird animals in one place. For millions of years, this island lay isolated in the Indian Ocean. Far from the main continents a unique flora and fauna could evolve here. Like the lemurs, a group of prosimians that only live on Madagascar. There are about 100 known species of them - the largest is the Indri. Its home is the rainforest on Madagascar's eastern side. The most adaptable is the ring-tailed lemur, who even can survive in the driest places. But the human population in Madagascar is rising rapidly. To produce charcoal, great parts of the rainforest are being chopped down. Only 10% of the natural rainforest still exists. In his two-part series, wildlife filmmaker Thomas Behrend presents a still - in some areas - mythical world that is on the brink of extinction.
- In the wake of the Allies' advance against Hitler's tyranny, there were numerous atrocities committed by the victors, not only in the East. Apart from their medals, some American soldiers also kept a dark secret.
- At the end of the 80s, the Soviet army is being universally modernized, observed closely by western military intelligence in East Germany. Weapons-scouts in the field are constantly on duty, as are agents in high command or in intelligence service stations, for instance in the autumn of 1983, as NATO is practicing new procedures of nuclear release. Moscow is concerned the exercise could be the beginning of a nuclear first strike. It takes a double agent to clear up this dangerous misunderstanding.
- The Srebrenica massacre is a wake-up call for the international community, which decides to intervene after four years of war. That same year, the warring parties sign a peace treaty. But war soon breaks out again, this time in Kosovo. NATO intervenes and ends the fighting - a controversial mission without a UN mandate. The Balkans are still regarded as a powder keg. The wars of the 1990s have set the region back economically; reconciliation is still difficult today.
