Taped in Atlanta on June 18, 2004, in front of a live audience, Reese was interviewed by actress Lorraine Toussaint, former star of the television series "Any Day Now."
- This hour-long, one-on-one interview provides a candid glimpse into the lives of actors and "National Treasures" Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. Taped on October 18, 2002 at The Art Institute of Chicago in front of a live audience, the couple was interviewed by activist and scholar Angela Davis. Master of Ceremonies Micah Materre, WGN-TV morning news anchor, began the program speaking of the profound influence Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee had on her life. Mr. Davis and Ms. Dee begin the interview describing their involvement in political and social campaigns. They then lovingly describe when they met, during the American Negro Theater's production of Jeb, and getting married in New Jersey in 1948. The interview continues as they explain the American Negro Theater's role in fighting segregation and discrimination after World War II as well as the struggles of actors and artists during the McCarthy era. Mr. Davis and Ms. Dee then tell stories of their relationship with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X as well as how they included their children in their political activism. After speaking of their roles in Cotton Comes to Harlem and Roots, Angela Davis asks them to describe their professional and personal relationship with film director Spike Lee. Though their entertainment careers blossomed, their commitment to humanitarian and political activism never waned. As the interview comes to a close, they reflect on the connection between art and politics and offer ideas on how to encourage younger generations to work for positive change in the world. At the time of the taping, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee had been married for more than fifty years. Not long after the taping, Ossie Davis passed away on February 4, 2005.
- This hour-long, one-on-one interview program provides a rare and unique glimpse inside the life and works of poet and educator Nikki Giovanni. Taped live in Atlanta, Georgia at Georgia Public Broadcasting on Saturday, June 18, 2005, this program is the eighth in The HistoryMakers' An Evening With. . . series. Writer, novelist and playwright Pearl Cleage interviewed her former childhood babysitter Nikki Giovanni with McDonald's Corporation serving as the event's title sponsor. The program begins with three Atlanta-based spoken word artists performing one of Giovanni's poems, "Ego Tripping" (there may be a reason why), and then, Pearl Cleage introduces Nikki Giovanni. During the interview, Giovanni talks about her childhood, the origins and foundation of her writing career and discusses her feelings about young people and the hip hop culture. Throughout the interview, there are performances by spoken word artists reciting Giovanni's poems that display the power and thoughtfulness of her words. Giovanni has published more than fourteen volumes of poetry, including Black Feeling Black Talk, Cotton Candy on a Rainy Day, Love Poems and The Selected Poems of Nikki Giovanni. Through the use of film footage and live performances, An Evening With Nikki Giovanni provides a profound look into the wonderful life of one of the world's most outstanding spoken word artists.

Taped in Chicago on October 24, 2003, in front of a live audience, King was interviewed by musician and entertainer Isaac Hayes. "An Evening With B.B. King" covers the full scope of the blues legend's life, using clips taken throughout his life and career, and includes a live performance by B.B. King, as well. "An Evening With B.B. King" was taped as a part of the fall fundraiser for The HistoryMakers, a 501(c)(3) Illinois, not-for-profit corporation.

Taped live in Washington, D.C. at George Washington University's Jack Morton Auditorium on Saturday, May 7, 2005, this program is the seventh in The HistoryMakers' An Evening With. . . series. Television journalist, moderator and managing editor of Washington Week, Gwen Ifill interviewed actress and singer Diahann Carroll with Discover Financial Services LLC serving as the event's title sponsor. In the interview, Carroll tells her life story, shares her experiences working in the entertainment industry and offers her feelings about being a pioneer and inspiring future minority actresses. She talks about her times working on her sitcom "Julia," working with Sydney Poitier, her Oscar nomination and working on the 1980s prime-time soap operas, "Dynasty" and "A Different World."

Taped in Chicago as a part of The HistoryMakers' fifth anniversary, Simmons was interviewed by media maven Cathy Hughes, founder of Radio One and TV-One. Simmons shared his life story before a sold-out crowd of 1,000, telling of his childhood in Queens, New York to becoming a co-founder of Def Jam records to the enormous successes of the clothing line, Phat Farm, and Def Comedy Jam and Def Poetry Jam. Simmons also spoke at length about his philanthropic initiatives and about his political involvement in urging others to vote. Russell Simmons' influence can be felt in virtually all aspects of business and media, be it music, fashion, financial services and even the beverage industry, and he truly is a HistoryMaker. An Evening With Russell Simmons features seldom seen historic footage and interviews with friends and associates filmed over the course of Simmons' career. Taped in front of a live audience at the Art Institute of Chicago, An Evening With Russell Simmons was a remarkable highlight to celebrate The HistoryMakers' fifth anniversary. The program was held in memory of Launa Thompson, who passed away while working on making the event the success that it was. In attendance was previously honored HistoryMaker, Dionne Warwick, as well as numerous other HistoryMakers. Will Griffin, president and COO of Simmons Lathan Media Group was also on hand to premiere a new DVD series featuring interviews of numerous HistoryMakers as they talk about issues of faith, courage and success. The HistoryMakers is committed to the development of a unique on-line archive of 5,000 first-person narratives of African American HistoryMakers, both well known and unsung. When completed, the archive will represent the single largest archive of its kind in the world.
