- In England, two men working on the docks close to London's Tower Bridge find the dead body of a man floating in the River Thames. They call the local police who later identify the body to be that of a diamond courier from Holland. The police have to find his murderer, as well as the missing diamonds he was carrying.
- This episode tells the story of a case in 1950's London, Which the Police have nick-named 'Spaceman'. It starts off with a robbery by gunpoint, where the robber escapes by hanging on the back of a removals lorry, after standing on the top to rob an office's payroll through the first floor window. After their escape the robbers change their van for motorbikes. Maguire is then called in to investigate, he finds the lorry and continues his search for the gang. One of the trio of crooks is Sue a woman (played by Jo Owen)while the two men in the gang are Kemp (played by Neil McCarthy) and Groves (Michael Ely). While checking for evidence around the stolen lorry Maguire notices some holes in the ground made by a woman's high heels.
- A wild stallion is menacing all of the local ranches and freeing their horses. Neighbouring rancher Charlie Stevens thinks that Fury is to blame, but Joey has seen the white renegade stallion and must find it, because Charlie wants Fury dead for something he had no part in.
- In Victorian times, two women meet up, it comes out that they hadn't seen each other for over fifty years, from when they worked together as chorus girls. They have a chat about old times and how their lives have changed, the most notable changes are Kitty's who went from been a working class chorus girl to a titled lady after marring Bertie, who would later become Lord Bodmin. Rosie's changes were more mundane as she just married and became Mrs. Bounce.
- Paul Temple drives through the mountains in Switzerland to St. Moritz, but instead goes with his wife onto the road to Soglio. At the village's cafe, the Italian gangster Angelo gives Heidi and her father Bernhard a bad time. Temple and his wife then arrive for a meal. Heidi asks them for a lift to St. Moritz where she works. Temple books into his usual haunt, the 'Kulm Hotel'; Angelo then tells Heidi (who works there) to check the rooms for things to steal. To help his son to win the Cresta Run (which he doesn't), Patrick Nolan pays Angelo to cheat for him by heating the blades on the toboggan. His son Dermot then gets him to steal the trophy, but they are both later caught by the inspector at the the airport with Temple's help. The village is then released from the pressure brought on by Angelo.
- A British embassy in Eastern Europe receives a coded message from London to say that Jordan of Special Branch would be visiting. This is mainly (so he's told) to check why ten thousand pounds in cash has gone missing. The cover story is that it was royalties for a published novel, but Jordan is told the truth that it was money to bribe the local enemy agents. While searching the embassy Jordan finds a large picture that would cover the safe from the security cameras when it was broken into. Jordan is then told the real truth in that the money has not been stolen but top secret files have gone missing instead. The thief is later caught by Jordan and it turns out to be Sarah Landring.
- At 3.55 am in London John Morrissey gets into a taxi to Scotland Yard. He is rushing to join a meeting about the planned arrest of three people who have broken the Official Secrets Act by selling information. The codename for this operation is Troika. Before the raid by Special Branch at 6 am, Greenaway sends a coded message to Moscow. When Cowley is arrested he tells Jordan that he has valuable information to tell him. After the raid they have arrested both Cowley and Morris but the third, Greenaway, has escaped, dressed as a woman, with a fake passport. Special Branch is then told by American Intelligence that Greenaway is really Major Igor Alexandrov, a KGB sleeper agent.
- This episode of the serial begins with Ramsy talking to Exton's daughter Tessa to try to explain the reasons behind her father's cocaine addiction death. Later Ramsey goes back to his hotel and is shocked to discover from P.F. (the owner) that Ramsey is been followed by Police everywhere. After Exton's funeral Ramsey goes to visit Wyn-Bennet, the doctor who signed Exton's death certificate, This is mainly to get more information but the doctor reveals nothing to him. Beryl then takes a vindictive visit to Isobel to demand her husband's things but Isobel says no and Beryl threatens to take her to court about it. After this meeting Isobel gets a bogus 'phone call to say that Ramsey has Malaria, She rushes to his hotel to find him fit and well, they then both go back to Isobel's shop to find all of Exton's things have disappeared while she was away. Ramsey breaks into Charlie the cocaine dealer's flat to find some of the killer cocaine, but instead finds the dealer himself dead in the bath.
- Exton Waite, A British member of Parliment and an old friend of Ramsey's dies from a supposed heart attack while taking cocaine, the reason for his death is kept secret. His body is found by his 24 year old daughter Tessa, a few days later she goes to France to ask Ramsey for help. While there she is followed by a mysterious man who later follows both of them back to England. Ramsey later meets Exton's lover Isobel who lets him know about what really killed Exton Waite.
- To get rid of the man who is following him, Ramsey 'phones the police and tells them that the man in the car outside is exposing himself to every woman who passes by. The police arrive and Ramsey makes his escape to another hotel. Ramsey then goes to find Jody Price, because if she uses the bad cocaine it could kill her or leave her with brain damage. Simon Wood who provided her with the cocaine is told by 'The Frenchman' that if he breaks free from him ,he will kill him. Wood disappears to get away from 'The Frenchman' so Ramsey goes to Wood's house to try and find evidence of where he has gone. Jody has the cocaine and is taken away by an ambulance, the police then arrive to arrest her boyfriend for handling drugs. Ramsey and Isabel work out where Wood is and Ramsey goes, but before he gets there 'The Frenchman' gets his revenge on Wood. He then tries to kill Ramsey but Ramsey makes his escape.
- Ramsey has a meeting with Kate Ross's father to talk about her death, Ramsey finds out from him that she was also taking heroin. Exton's widow Beryl is asked to go for her late husband's place in Parliament. Ramsey goes to see Isabel to ask her if she knows who Simon Wood Is, She then tells him. Ramsey has the bad cocaine that he got from Charlie's place examined by a friend and he is then told by the pathologist that the cocaine contains a large amount of poisons as additives. Ramsey then visits Simon Wood, but he is followed all the way there by a mysterious man as well as having Detective Inspector Brook waiting outside of Wood's in a car. While there Ramsey tells Wood all about the poisoned cocaine and the deaths it has caused. Exton's daughter Tessa gets a visit from her ex-boyfriend Jeremy, who tells her that he has been reactivated by British intelligence mainly to get her to stop investigating her father's death. Brook takes Ramsey to an empty train to look at where another man was killed due to cocaine use. Ramsey is later beaten up by a man just after they had searched his hotel room
