- Danny and Charley have plans to go to Acapulco with the wives; but Louise is on vacation so they have to cancel because of the kids. Charley goes on a rant about kids and Bunny gets upset. She just learned she's going to have a baby, and now that Bunny's convinced Charley hates kids she doesn't know how to tell him. SONG: Brahm's Lullaby
- Danny's building was sold and the new landlord doesn't like noise, pets, or people in showbiz. Danny is miffed when the landlord tells him to stop playing the piano. Danny says there's nothing in the lease about piano playing, only pets. Wait until Danny finds out Kathy and the kids have smuggled in a dog.
- Dante sends Juliette a blackmail demand. Juliette asks Avery to help with her new song. Gunnar goes on a radio show; Scarlett doesn't like what he says and gives him a piece of her mind. Will uses information from Scarlett to crash Rayna's auditions. Will and Gunnar get in a bar fight and Gunnar misses Scarlett's debut at the Grand Ol' Opry, but Avery makes it. Scarlett tells Gunnar she can't be with him the way he is now. Rayna has Deacon over for dinner with the girls and Teddy objects. He serves Rayna a restraining order and Rayna seeks Lamar's advice. Tandy goes to the board of Lamar's company over the leadership. Maddie goes through Rayna'a papers and finds the family secret. Dante changes his demands. Jolene buys drugs and contacts Dante.
- Linda promised she wouldn't touch Danny's tape recorder. Danny promised Linda could go on Art Linkletter's show Kids Say the Darndest Things. When Danny discovers Linda has recorded over all the material for his new act, she gets a spanking and grounded for the weekend: a promise is a promise. Linda tells Danny she can't stay in her room the ENTIRE weekend, she's supposed to be on the show Saturday. Linda is mad and repeats back to him: a promise is a promise. Now Danny's worried what she might say.
- The railroad is being vandalized: gunfire, dynamite, workers attacked and run off. Ethan is behind on the mortgage, so he takes a job with the railroad to put an end to the attacks. Ethan finds the vandals and finds every story has two sides.
- The baby is due in a few days and Charley is jumping every time the phone rings. He wants to know where Bunny is every second and he can't sleep. Danny gives Charley a tranquilizer to calm him down so he can get some sleep - better take two. Kathy finds the bottle laying out and gives Bunny a few so she can put one in Charley's milk each night until the baby comes, but Bunny slips him two.
- The family is about to meet Pat's father (Jack Haley). Pat Sr is delighted to meet everyone, except Danny who "stole" his song. The two make up, but continue to fight over everything from the engagement toast to the wedding guests. SONG: about Irish names in Hollywood
- Juliette and Sean elope. Sean wants them to tell Juliette's mom on family day at rehab, but Juliette talks him into letting her go alone. Juliette and her mom continue to argue. Lamar uses Rayna's daughter to threaten her, and Teddy tells him to back off. Deacon is on the road with the new band and avoiding an interview, but not the attractive reporter. Avery tells his band that he made a solo deal. Scarlett agrees to be their lead singer in Avery's absence.
- Charley's cousin Herman is in town and wants to come for dinner. Herman is a famous chef and tried to stop Charley's wedding years ago when he found out Bunny couldn't cook. Since then Charley has been writing letters about the wonderful cook Bunny has become. Too bad none of it is true. Kathy only has the weekend to give Bunny a crash course in cooking. - Rusty hasn't asked a girl to the school dance because he has no confidence. Danny gives him some pointers and now the girls are falling all over themselves to go out with Rusty. The only problem is Rusty, he's gone from no confidence to treating the girls badly and Danny is not happy about it.
- Uncle Tonoose arrives in New York to announce he is getting married in April. When Danny asks who the bride is, Uncle Tonoose says "I dunno". It's an old Lebanese custom that the groom does not approach the bride, his best friend introduces them... and Uncle Tonoose has chosen Danny to do the honors.
- Charley and Bunny enter fighting. Bunny's brother has offered to decorate the nursery for them so it will be ready for when the baby arrives, but Charley wants to do it himself. Bunny wants her brother to decorate because Charley knows nothing about home improvements. Danny settles the fight by proposing Charley do the work, but that he do it with expert supervision - him.
- Kathy's uncle Sean is coming to visit Kathy and her new Irish husband. Kathy isn't the only one to stretch the truth; to get out of losing a chess game Uncle Sean has Danny send word back to his old foe Paddy McCormick in Dublin that he's died. Now Paddy's coming for the funeral. SONG: It's the Same Old Shillelagh.
- Grady (John Beck) shows up and asks Ethan to watch his girl Edith for three weeks. Grady has a job hauling opium for the mining company, but the Tongs want to stop it. Claire thinks she has a little sister to help her, but Edith is more interested in playing than chores. Edith comes between the brothers when Ben is happy to desert his chores, but George isn't.

As a matter of fact, he isn't happy with Danny at all. Rusty doesn't understand why Danny is putting up with all the insults and bad behavior. Danny tries to explain that Mr. Daly is Kathy's father and his elder and deserves his respect.
- Danny finds a dent in his car, but after the countless jokes in his act the night before about women drivers (while Kathy was at the club) he doesn't dare tell Kathy. Danny tells Charlie he'll use the housekeeping money Kathy keeps in a jar to get the car repaired and replace it as soon as he can get to the bank. Unfortunately, Kathy discovers it is missing and calls the police.

Carla doesn't want to go, so Danny says he'll give Jimmy a crash course in art, literature, and haberdashery so he'll fit in with Carla's college friends. - 1953–196530mTV-Y77.0 (21)TV EpisodeDanny's new show is a bomb, so Milton Berle stops by to offer him encouragement. Milton goes on to say he's left showbusiness - hadn't Danny noticed? - and is doing great in oil investments. Danny decides to follow suit and quit showbiz too.
- Charlie tells Danny there's an old fan Ed from Chicago in the audience and gets extremely nervous when Danny asks if it's Ed Riley. "Ed Riley, the gangster?" Charlie stutters. Charlie has nothing to worry about, but Skip Harris the notorious comedy material thief not only tells Danny he's stealing his jokes, but manages to thoroughly offend Mr. Riley as well. Danny and Charlie try to warn Skip he's in danger, but he doesn't believe Danny.
- Kathy and Terry are not happy when Danny and Pat cancel their plans in order to work on fixes for the new show. When Danny backs out on their vacation, Kathy plots with Charlie Halper to change Danny's mind - by making him think he's seeing little green men.
- Kathy has been excused from jury duty, but Danny insists it is her duty to go. When Kathy points out that Louise is on vacation, Danny says he has time off and can run the house while Kathy is gone. After all, how hard can it be? Kathy decides to let him find out.
- The children are running an egg business to help with the mortgage. Amelia and Ethan are going to Virginia City. Before leaving, four ruffians are in town and one takes a fancy to Amelia. Amelia rebuffs him with Ethan's help, so they waylay them on the trail and Ethan is badly beaten. Complicating matters Amelia is taking the money she was paid for the bank to deposit in Virginia City.
- Deacon hates parties and watches Old Yeller every birthday, so naturally Juliette plans a surprise party for him. Rayna tells Teddy their daughter knows about Peggy, and Rayna will not cover for him like she did with the press. Despite filing in another county, the divorce is all over the tabloids and the paparazzi are all over Rayna and her girls. A crisis manager tells Rayna not to be seen in public with any man but her dad, but Rayna defiantly has Watty take her to Deacon's party. Rayna wrote a special song and Juliette says cattily that she's going to sing for Deacon, only she has to leave when her mother gets drunk. Teddy appoints Coleman as Deputy Mayor, infuriating Rayna's dad Lamar. Avery is in the studio and tells Dominic the music isn't right, but doesn't realize Dominic's responses are recorded. . . he isn't even there. Gunnar finds a gun in his brother's bag and Scarlett hits the roof. Scarlett gets Deacon to the party (attended by music celebs) on the pretext of finally hearing her and Gunnar sing. Two detectives pick Gunnar up at the party. Juliette gives Deacon an old yeller (yellow) dog.
- Rusty and Linda want to go to the movies. When Kathy says no, they complain what good is learning about democracy in school when there is no democracy in their home. Danny comes up with the brilliant solution of having the family vote on everything, but no one can be a sore loser. He comes home to find the kids eating cake and ice cream, and Kathy informs him that while he was gone they out-voted her two to one. Danny has to find a way to stop the voting without being a sore loser.

In this twist on Cyrano de Bergerac, Jose tells Danny he is in love. He has never spoken to his love, because "you may not have noticed, but I have an accent". - Kathy hires a swami. Danny recognizes him as an old burlesque performer and tells Kathy that burlesque is more than people remember. Some of the great comics got their start in burlesque. Danny and Charlie come up with an idea to put some of the old routines into the act and bring the former star back to work.
- Terry's friends have band practice at Danny's house, preparing for a PTA show. Danny protests because it is rock & roll and not real music. When Danny finds out the principal cancels the band, Danny starts supporting the band's music.
- Ethan helps his old friend Gideon (Chuck Connors) dry out and thinks Gideon's going to help them. Gideon says he took the businessman's (Jennings) money and is honor bound to fight for him. Upon arrival at Jenning's ranch Gideon finds another gunfighter has been hired. The conflict escalates to a showdown between Gideon and Ethan. (Part 2 of 2 episodes)
- Everyone is in New York for the concert. Maddie tells Rayna she wants to be a singer and Rayna's not happy. Juliette invites Daphne and Maddie to party with her after the show, but Rayna says no. Juliette asks her mother's therapist (Dante) for business advice and lands a multi-million dollar deal with a company. Juliette and Dante sleep together. Avery loses his publishing contract and gets a job as a roadie for Juliette's band. Stacy asks Deacon if he is trying to sabotage them by bringing her on tour with two of his ex-girlfriends. Scarlett's new upstairs neighbor, Will, is a singer who got Scarlett's mail with her contract "by mistake". Scarlett says she's not signing the contract and Gunnar tells her Avery was the jealous one who couldn't take her success, sign. Lamar finds out Peggy leaked the story about Teddy and Rayna's divorce and blackmails her into changing Teddy's mind about the stadium. Lamar collapses at home.
- 2012–201843mTV-PG8.5 (293)TV EpisodeRayna tells the girls she's dating Deacon. Deacon gives Juliette his condolences on Jolene's death and she blasts him. Maddie tells Deacon she thinks he may be her father. The US Attorney's office notifies Teddy they're investigating the Cumberland deal. When Teddy contacts Peggy he hears surprising news. Scarlett and Avery meet for a meal. Gunnar brings flowers home and tells Scarlett he came clean about the music to the producer. Scarlett says flowers won't fix what's wrong and leaves to go hear Avery play. At the CMA awards, Juliette lashes out backstage and is horrified by what she said. She leaves. Deacon confronts Rayna backstage about Maddie's parentage, they argue, and he winds up in a bar. Rayna goes home where she and Teddy try to calm a hysterical Maddie. The morning of the funeral Glen brings Juliette her award. Rayna comforts Juliette at the funeral. Juliette arrives home where the mail includes a letter from Jolene. Tandy quits her job. Gunnar proposes to Scarlett. Rayna flips the car with her and Deacon inside.
- Scarlett tells Gunnar she has two passes to Deacon's concert in Austin, but Gunnar says he's making the trip because of family obligations. She convinces him to take her along saying they can work during the long drive. Cy (band leader) is jealous of the attention Deacon is getting with the press and the women, which prompts him to make a bad move and Deacon quits the band. Juliette files divorce papers, Sean files annulment papers. Rayna isn't happy with any guitarist playing in Deacon's place. The election results come in.
- Deacon finally accepts Juliette's offer to tour with her, and Rayna's not happy about it. Liam wants Rayna to change labels, neglecting to mention he has a side deal. Rayna fires him and hires a woman guitar player. Rayna gets her own label and wants to sign Scarlett and Gunnar. Rayna struggles with being on the road with Deacon, and finally texts him to come up to her room. When she opens the door, it's Teddy who came to tell Rayna he wants a divorce. Juliette slips a ballad that she and Deacon wrote into the show and the crowd response is OK, but Glen has a fit. The song ends up online and is popular. Scarlett is having trouble making rent and Gunnar hates his roommates, so they agree to move in together platonically. Avery has a camera follow-along interview and takes them by Scarlett's house. That evening Gunnar and Avery get into a fist-fight.
- Gil shoots and wounds a puma while while out scouting for the cattle drive. The puma escaped and kills the young son of a local rancher's widow. Gil and the guys go on the hunt for the puma along with a friend of the widow (Cesar Romero) who also happens to want to kill Gil because he's jealous of the attention the widow shows Gil.
- Danny's looking for a couple children to use in his act. When he sees it mentioned in the newspaper he's sure every stage mother in New York will be at his door. Jose is doing a good job keeping them away . . . except he has a nephew who would be just perfect.
- The Friar's Club is having a Family Night Talent Show so Danny has rehearsed a musical dance number for Rusty and Linda, and is planning to sing Daddy's Little Girl with Terry. Kathy is upset that she's not included as part of the "family" show. When Danny reminds her that she has no theatrical talent, Kathy leaves the next morning to make the audition rounds. - When the mailman in their new apartment building tells Linda his feet hurt, she decides to help him by delivering some of the mail (without asking him). Kathy sees all the mail in Linda's room and tries to deliver it before Linda gets into trouble. Kathy hides the mail she can't carry and when Danny comes home and finds it, he comes to the only possible conclusion - Kathy is a kleptomaniac.

- Doris is dependable, capable, and single. She can fix plumbing, electrical, a carburetor, and tells Kathy she doesn't need a husband. When Phil comes over to talk Kathy into letting Danny go out of town, he says how wonderful that Danny has such a dependable, capable wife and what a shame he never meets anyone like Kathy.
- Kathy is feeling useless: Rusty doesn't want her help with his homework, Linda doesn't want her help sewing, and even Bunny is off to help Charley with the bookkeeping. When Danny brings her up on stage to dance, she decides to join the act - for good. SONGS: That Face, Pretty Baby
- Linda is being punished and threatens to run away (again). Danny tells Kathy to ignore it, kids never mean it and Kathy reminds Danny that Rusty meant it when he ran away. Linda comes out with her suitcase. Danny wants to let her go, but Kathy won't let Linda out of her sight. Danny arranges with Charlie to get disguises to follow her and then lets Linda out of the house. SONG: Be Kind to Your Parents.
- Rusty gets a new football uniform. When he and his friends go up to his room so he can try it on, Linda tags along. Rusty stops her, telling her "Football is for boys. You were born a girl, better luck next time." Linda wants to be included, so Linda becomes "Louie".
- The whole family is at the club for Linda's birthday. She sings a song, and the next day Charlie wants to book her on Danny's upcoming TV special.
- Charley has decided he really wants the baby to be a boy. Danny is telling Charley how nice it is to have a sweet little girl when Linda storms in with a black eye. Linda has been playing football with Scotty hoping he will ask her to the party that Saturday, but 9-year-old Eloise arrives looking for "big, strong Scotty". Danny decides to teach Linda to out-girl Eloise so she will not lose Scotty.

- Deacon offers to help talk Juliette's mother into rehab. Rayna says no to a Greatest Hits album again. Rayna is recording one of her and Deacon's songs for a commercial, it was altered and Deacon won't sign off on the change. Teddy and Coleman debate the baseball stadium. Teddy meets with Peggy and we learn it's not an affair they are hiding, it's a crime. Scarlett and Gunnar get an audition for one of their songs. When they need another guitarist Avery steps in, but he gets jealous and takes over the song by playing a flashy lead.
- Juliette and Dante are still in bed when Rayna knocks on the door to say she has to go back to Nashville for a family emergency, and may have to cancel that night. Later Avery is searching for equipment, sees Dante in bed with Juliette, and Dante fires him. Deacon gives Stacy a key to his place and plans to quit the road, then hears about Lamar. Deacon challenges Juliette about Dante and she storms off. Deacon confronts Dante and says until he hears from Juliette, Dante can't fire Avery. Jolene accuses Juliette of stealing Dante from her and realizes they're sleeping together. At the hospital, Rayna and her sister see Lamar who is less than appreciative. Watty comes to the hospital, Lamar has a fit and ends up in surgery. Rayna realizes Watty is the musician her mother was seeing, and hears her mother was leaving Lamar the night she died. Tandy finds the connection between Lamar and Peggy. Scarlett tells Gunnar he's still having nightmares. She wants Gunnar to write with her, but he says he can't. Will gets closer to Scarlett and Gunnar; he and Gunnar play chicken with a train.
- Danny and Pat want to pick up a side business. Charlie lets them in on a deal to tear down a building and put in a parking lot. All Charlie has to do is get rid of the nightclub that's leasing the building, and the tenants are way behind in the rent so that's no problem. Or at least it wasn't until Danny and Charlie go to check out the place and find an old friend has sunk all her money into the club. The old owner let them slide until the nightclub could build up a following, and she is worried the new owner won't give them any more time. SONGS: My Mother Was A Lady (If Jack Were Only Here), and It All Depends On You.
- The school is having an awards ceremony and the fathers are invited to say a few words. Rusty is receiving an award and Danny is going, but Rusty's friend (played by Johnny Crawford) is going alone to get an award for "Best English". When Danny goes to the shoe repair shop to persuade the father, he finds out the real reason the father isn't attending. Danny gives a touching speech on emigrants at the ceremony.
- Rusty tells Linda that he can convince his parents to do anything he wants, and to get anything he wants. Rusty knows how to manipulate Danny and Kathy. It works, until they catch on to his game.
