1. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999 TV Series)
Episode: Blast (2006)
A girl, Carly Hunter, is kidnapped on her way home from school. The abductor's van is quickly found, with the girl's blood in it. One suspect, a paroled pedophile, accidentally kills himself running from Det. Stabler. Hoping that evidence from the van will help locate Carly, Stabler talks to the medical examiner, Dr. Warner. She tells Stabler that Carly is probably alive (the blood is from a nosebleed), but that she's also got an undiagnosed case of leukemia and needs to be found as soon as possible. Warner elects to go to the Hunters and tell them about Carly's condition. While there, the kidnapper calls and demands $300,000 ransom and no police. He can view the apartment somehow, and asks who Warner is. She convinces the kidnapper that she's Carly's doctor. She then goes to an interior bathroom and calls SVU. They sneak in and are there when ransom delivery directions are faxed, demanding that Warner be the delivery person. Stabler goes along (in a car trunk), and watches the exchange. But a security guard at the drop site spooks the kidnapper, and he flees in a stolen car with Carly. Using evidence left by the car, SVU finds where Carly is being kept and rescues her. Talking to her, Stabler realizes that the kidnapper knows the family intimately. Talking to Carly's mom, Stabler finds out that the Hunters have an older adult son, Daniel, whom they kicked out because he was a cocaine addict who almost let Carly die 5 years before when she found his coke stash and almost ingested it. Mrs. Hunter hadn't talked to him since he was kicked out. But talking to Mr. Hunter at his bank, Stabler and Warner find out that he's talked to Daniel periodically. While there, a bank robber comes in brandishing a machine gun. Mr. Hunter realizes that it's Daniel, and tries talking to him about giving up. Hunter trips up Stabler trying to get the drop on Daniel, and the police become hostages. After talking to Cragen (who has arrived with the SWAT team outside the bank), Daniel returns into the bank and gets shot at by an overzealous guard. Daniel shoots back and severely wounds his father. Feeling that everything is lost, Daniel decides to go out in a blaze of glory by shooting towards the police outside and getting killed in the return fire. He shoots out the door windows and begins to walk into their view. But Dr. Warner takes out a gun and shoots one of Daniel's legs. The police realize that he's down, and he's taken into custody without being wounded further.

4. Hocus Pocus (1993)
300 years have passed since the Sanderson sisters were executed for practicing dark witchcraft. Returning to life thanks to a combination of a spell spoken before their demise and the accidental actions of Max, the new-kid-in-town, the sisters have but one night to secure their continuing existence...
More than 300 years ago, 3 witches were sentenced to die in Salem, Massachusetts and a boy was turned into a cat (a black cat, naturally). Now it's Halloween, and the witches (who fly on [I kid you not] vacuum cleaners) are back. This time, they've got their eyes on immortal life and have turned their wrath on trick-or-treaters and it's up to the 300-year-old cat to save the day.
300 years ago, the Sanderson sisters had bewitched people. Now it's Halloween 1993 and Max Dennison has lit the candle that would bring the witches back to life! Now Max, Allison, and Dani must save all the kids in Salem from the witches including leader Winifred, goofy Sarah, and high-strung Mary who will steal the lives of children!
In the year 1693, sisters, Winifred, Mary and Sarah were executed for their unforgiveble witchcraft. They captured and sucked the life out of children. Just before their execution, Winifred made a curse - a curse that when a virgin lights the black flame candle on Halloween light, in their house, they shall return ... 1993, 300 years later, Max decides to light the candle in order to scare his irritating sister Dani and his wannabe girlfriend Alison. Now, the three Witches are back ready for a night of fun, magic and horror in the now modern area of Salem.
In the year 1693, 3 sisters, Winifred, Mary and Sarah were executed for their unforgivable witchcraft. One fateful Halloween night, that unpleasant honor went to adorable little Emily Binx, sister of teenage Thackery, who immediately ran to his sibling's aid when he heard she'd been lured by Sarah Sanderson to the witches' home in the woods. This was not a well thought out plan though, and the cost was not only the life of his sister Emily, but his own humanity as well. Emily's lifeforce was drained from her body by the three Sanderson witches, and big brother Thackery Binx was transformed into an immortal black cat, cursed to live forever with the guilt of his failure to save his sister! Luckily for the rest of the children of Salem, the Sanderson sisters were captured that night and hung for their crimes, but not before their living book of spells revealed to them a curse to bring the three back from the dead on All Hallow's Eve when a virgin lights the black flame candle. 300 years later, teenager Max Dennison is a newcomer to Salem, struggling to adjust after growing up in a California lifestyle. It isn't going well for Max. Bullies are stealing his sneakers right off his feet, the girl of his dreams snubs him due to his lack of interest in Halloween, and his little sister, Dani, is ever the pest. Now, he must spend the evening escorting her door to door for trick or treating while their parents enjoy the town Halloween dance. Things are about to go from bad to worse for Max, however. Just when he believes things are looking up after he and Dani convince dream-girl Allison to take them to the old Sanderson house, Max's efforts to impress the girl lead him to light the black-flame candle himself, bringing Sarah, Mary, and Winifred Sanderson back from the dead! From there on out, it's a non-stop, fun-filled chase as the witches pursue the children, determined to make sassy-mouthed Dani the subject of their next youth spell, which must be performed before dawn or else the witches will be gone forever! With the immortal, talking black cat Binx guiding them along, Max, Dani, and Allison work together to outrun, outwit, and outlast the evil trio and their magical arsenal, with the fate of all the children of Salem hanging in the balance!

The twins had not enough air to survive even if the ransom had been delivered as demanded, but after examining Matthew's serious fracture and stun-gun wounds, the team concludes it was a car crash, the Gravedigger was surprised by the second twin and has no larger vat available. Now the Gravedigger kidnaps both Bones and Hodgins from the Jeffersonian parking-lot, asking $8,000,000, well within his family's means. Zach discovers why the vat contains so much blood: Ryan severed his own artery with a pen, to give his brother more air and hence time. Kirk, Spock, McCoy and a couple of red shirts beam down to the surface of a planet in answer to a fake distress call. There they are overpowered by a small group of human-looking aliens from the Andromeda galaxy, led by Rojan. Their galaxy will be uninhabitable within a few thousand years, so they intend to conquer ours, to give themselves a new home. The aliens' spacecraft had been damaged by the energy barrier around the galaxy, and they need the Enterprise to return home, enhancing its engines so that the journey will "only" take 300 years. They take over the Enterprise using their two main weapons - a paralyzing beam, and a ray that can reduce a person to a gray block of material - revival only being possible if the block is not damaged. After successfully negotiating the energy barrier, the aliens reduce all the crew into the gray blocks, with the exception of Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scott, who must somehow overcome the aliens, revive the crew and return home.
The Enterprise is taken over by Kelvans, an advanced race from the Andromeda galaxy that are intent on making the 300 year journey home. Their leader, Rojan, immobilizes all of the crew but for Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scott. As the trip progresses, however, Spock realizes that, having taken human form, the Kelvans are now developing emotions. Kirk introduces romance into the equation by purposely wooing Kelinda thereby rendering Rojan insanely jealous.
The Enterprise answers a distress call, but the landing party is told to surrender by Rojan, who establishes body control over them, as Hanar, also of his kind, the Kelvans, which has assumed human form posing as colonists, does aboard the starship -entering and leaving on his own-, declares the Kelvans end humanity's former way of existence, and improves the ships engines so in 'merely' 300 years they can make an intergalactic voyage to the Andromeda system. When a Vulcan mind probe to attempt escape fails, as punishment two crewmen are instantly reduced to solid organic matter, one crushed irrevocably but the other restored as a demonstration. Spock deduces such is the Kelvans' normal state. Kirk tells him to fake sickness and modify diagnostic equipment to attempt reversing the Kelvan nervous control field; McCoy is allowed to bring him aboard the Enterprise. Spock finds the engine modification is cased in an impenetrable material and proposes a sabotage which will make the ship explode while it passes a natural energy barrier but Kirk fails to order the explosion; the Kelvans were aware of the plan and 'neutralize' all non-essential human crew as revivable matter. Spock observes the Kelvans have sacrificed all non-intellectual mind functions, and are thus vulnerable in their present human form to sense-stimulation, so the remaining crew bombards them with sensuality, which indeed throws them off balance, even striving amongst each-other. When they realize being weakened, Kirk makes them an an offer...

34. 300 (2006)
In the Battle of Thermopylae of 480 BC an alliance of Greek city-states fought the invading Persian army in the mountain pass of Thermopylae. Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the enemy in one of the most famous last stands of history. Persian King Xerxes led a Army of well over 100,000 (Persian king Xerxes before war has about 170,000 army) men to Greece and was confronted by 300 Spartans, 700 Thespians, and 400 Thebans. Xerxes waited for 10 days for King Leonidas to surrender or withdraw but left with no options he pushed forward. After 3 days of battle all the Greeks were killed. The Spartan defeat was not the one expected, as a local shepherd, named Ephialtes, defected to the Persians and informed Xerxes that the separate path through Thermopylae, which the Persians could use to outflank the Greeks, was not as heavily guarded as they thought.
300 tells the story of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. Persians under the rule of King Xerxes have already taken over some of the Hellenic city-states, and now threaten Sparta and Athens. King Leonidas of Sparta is left with two options: he will either have to sacrifice himself for the well-being of Sparta or watch it burn to the ground. Choosing the former, Leonidas forms an army of 300 Spartan warriors to block the narrow passage of Thermopylae where Xerxes intends to reach Hellas. The 300 are accompanied by about 700 Thespians who protect the flanks of the passage, and combined, the forces manage to slay tens of thousands of Persians and prevent their entry into Hellas for several days. However, Ephialtes, a reject of the Spartan Army gets his revenge by showing Xerxes a secret goat passage up the flanks of the passage. The story depicts the epic last stand of the finest Spartan soldiers who are aware of their fate, but motivated by "honor and glory", see the battle as their duty to protect the rest of Greece for as long as possible.
In 480 BC, the Persian king Xerxes sends his massive army to conquer Greece. The Greek city of Sparta houses its finest warriors, and 300 of these soldiers are chosen to meet the Persians at Thermopylae, engaging the soldiers in a narrow canyon where they cannot take full advantage of their numbers. The battle is a suicide mission, meant to buy time for the rest of the Greek forces to prepare for the invasion. However, that doesn't stop the Spartans from throwing their hearts into the fray, determined to take as many Persians as possible with them.
