Shane Rimmer was a Canadian actor and screenwriter, primarily known as the voice actor of Scott Tracy, a leading character in the science fiction series "Thunderbirds" (1965-1966).
Rimmer was born in Toronto, Canada, where his parents had settled after moving to Canada. Shane's father was Thomas Rimmer, a reporter and advertising copywriter from Ireland. Shane's mother was Vera Franklin, from England. Thomas and Vera had separately migrated to the United States, and they met each other while living in New York. They married there, and then moved to Canada in search of a better life.
In the 1950s, Rimmer had a music career in Canada, both as a singer and as a radio DJ. In 1958, he became the host of a musical television series, "Come Fly with Me". In 1959, Rimmer joined a singing trio called "the Three Deuces", and started performing in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, he had started appearing as a character actor in various films and television series.
In 1962, Rimmer met the dancer Sheila Logan, and they were married in 1963. The couple settled in London, and Rimmer's new wife soon became his agent. She helped secure more acting jobs for him. His first recurring role in a television series was playing the magazine editor Russell Corrigan in the soap opera "Compact"(1963-1964)
His first notable film role was that of Captain "Ace" Owens, crew member of a B-52 bomber in the black comedy "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" (1964). Owens is depicted serving under Major "King" Kong (played by Slim Pickens) in a suicide mission.
Rimmer started playing guest roles in relatively high-profile action and science-fiction television series of the period, such as "The Saint ", "Danger Man", and "Dr. Who". In 1965, Rimmer gained his key role of pilot Scott Tracy in "Thunderbirds". Scott appeared in all 32 episodes of the series. After the end of the television series, Rimmer returned to the role of Scott Tracy in the spin-off films "Thunderbirds Are Go" (1966) and "Thunderbird 6" (1968). While the television series was a hit, both films under-performed at the box office. Plans for further sequel films were can-celled.
In the late 1960s, Rimmer started playing minor roles in the "James Bond" film series. He played an unnamed American launch controller in "You Only Live Twice" (1967), the chief of security Tom in "Diamonds Are Forever" (1971), and Commander Carter, the captain of the nuclear submarine in "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977). He also voiced Hamilton, an agent of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) who gets assassinated in "Live and Let Die" (1973). Hamilton was played by actor Robert Dix, but his dialogue was voiced by Rimmer instead.
Trying his hand at screenwriting, Rimmer wrote scripts for several episodes of the television series "Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons" (1967-1968), "Joe 90" (1968-1969), "The Secret Service" (1969), and "The Protectors " (1972-1974). Three Bad Sisters (1956), The King and Four Queens (1956) with Clark Gable, and Affair in Havana (1957), at the very least, put her in the featured role bracket. From there, she moved directly into TV roles and worked throughout much the late 1950s/early 1960s on such programs as Dragnet (1951), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955), The Outer Limits (1963) and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964). Her film career peaked when she was chosen to play the Jane-like role, opposite muscleman Gordon Scott's vine swinger, in Tarzan's Greatest Adventure (1959), one of the better entries in the series.
Never connecting strongly with the whirlwind social circle, she left the Hollywood limelight and retired from show biz in her late 30s. She turned to writing and began to devote herself to the study of pharmaceuticals. She wrote two books, 'Zulma' and 'Take Control of Your Health and Escape the Sickness Industry', the first was a work of fiction and the second was a book promoting healthy living. To escape the pollution of Los Angeles, she moved to Australia where she still lives on her 5 acre home. - Actor

Shane Salerno is the co-screenwriter of the forthcoming Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), Avatar 3 (2025), Avatar 4 (2029), Avatar 5 (2031) produced and directed by Oscar winner James Cameron. He has been a professional screenwriter since the age of 19. In the years that have followed Detour Magazine has named Salerno as "one of Hollywood's true shapers of popular culture" and Fade In magazine selected him as one of the "100 people you need to know in Hollywood". His diverse screenwriting is distinguished by the quality of directors who have chosen him to write their films including Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Ridley Scott, Michael Mann, Ron Howard, Oliver Stone, William Friedkin and Michael Bay among many others.
Salerno produced and directed the documentary film Salinger, a documentary on the mysterious life of Catcher in the Rye author J.D. Salinger. The film was released theatrically and was also an American Masters television special. The film features interviews with friends, colleagues and members of Salinger's inner circle that have never spoken on the record before as well as film footage, photographs and other material that has never been seen.
Salerno is also a New York Times bestselling author. He co-wrote the biography Salinger about J.D. Salinger with David Shields. The book was a New York Times bestseller and a #1 national bestseller. The book also made bestseller list for NPR, Independent Booksellers, Barnes & Noble and The Los Angeles Times. It was also named an Amazon Best Book of the Month and received starred reviews from Publisher's Weekly and Kirkus Reviews.
He was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up in Memphis, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and San Diego. He attended ten schools in twelve years on both coasts of the United States.
His film debut happened when he was in high school. At 17 he wrote, produced and directed the award winning documentary film Sundown: The Future of Children and Drugs. The film debuted on Larry King Live in September 1991. Sundown won several notable "best documentary of the year" honors and was showcased on major talk shows and news programs around the world. Shane was also honored individually, in separate ceremonies, in both houses of Congress.
The critical acclaim Sundown received led nine-time Emmy winner Gregory Hoblit to invite a then 19 year old Shane to apprentice on the first season of NYPD Blue as a writer-director. Shane has credited the backstage pass to the brilliant, gritty series during a year when they were honored with a record 26 Emmy nominations as a front line film school.
Salerno is the co-writer and executive producer of Savages, directed by three-time Oscar winner Oliver Stone, based on the acclaimed crime novel by Don Winslow which the New York Times voted as one of the "top ten books of 2010". The all-star cast includes Taylor Kitsch, John Travolta, Blake Lively, Uma Thurman, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Aaron Johnson, Emile Hirsch and Mia Maestro. Universal Pictures will release the film in the fall of 2012.
Salerno one of the few screenwriters to have found success in both film and television: he's the co-writer of #1 blockbusters Armageddon and Shaft, and served as one of the writer/producers of Hawaii Five O during its Golden Globe-nominated first season.
Salerno is also one of the select screenwriters to have sold both pitches and spec scripts to studios for over $1 million.
By the age of 22 he was consistently writing the highest rated episodes of the hit Fox TV series New York Undercover. Shane's gritty, street wise episodes attracted the attention of film producers. At the end of the first season, Shane asked Universal television to be let out of his three-year contract in order to pursue the feature film opportunities that he was being offered.
The first feature screenwriting job Salerno accepted was the adaptation of the World War II submarine thriller Thunder Below for producer-director Steven Spielberg and the newly formed Dreamworks Pictures. Shane next sold the spec script A Season in Hell for $600,000 to Dino DeLaurentiis who also asked him to polish the screenplay of Breakdown starring Kurt Russell. Breakdown was released by Paramount Pictures to critical acclaim.
Salerno experienced his breakthrough at the age of 24 when director Michael Bay recruited Shane to rewrite the Jerry Bruckheimer produced Armageddon based on an original screenplay by Jonathan Hensleigh. The blockbuster film debuted at #1 on July 1, 1998 and was the highest grossing film of the year, earning over $570 million worldwide.
In 1998, at the age of 25, Variety selected Shane as one of the "hottest new creatives on the film scene." Based on Thunder Below and Armageddon, John Singleton, the youngest director ever nominated for an Oscar, telephoned Shane and asked him to serve as his writing partner on "Shaft" which Paramount Pictures was mounting. The Singleton-Salerno collaboration (aided by novelist Richard Price) resulted in Shane's second #1 film when "Shaft" debuted at the top of the box office on June 16, 2000.
That year, Shane (now 27) returned to television by co-creating (with acclaimed novelist Don Winslow), executive producing and serving as show-runner, head writer, and music supervisor for the NBC television series UC: Undercover starring Vera Farmiga (Martin Scorsese's "The Departed"), Oded Fehr (Showtime's "Sleeper Cell") and Golden Globe winner Ving Rhames. The series won and was nominated for awards in acting, cinematography and sound.
Salerno is also the co-writer of the 3-D re-imagining of Fantastic Voyage, produced by James Cameron, Jon Landau and Rae Sanchini for Twentieth Century Fox.
On January 29, 2010, the website Deadline Hollywood broke an exclusive story and review of Salinger, a feature-length documentary about reclusive author J. D. Salinger that Salerno directed, produced and financed himself. The documentary was kept secret for five years. The film features interviews with 150 subjects including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Edward Norton, John Cusack, Danny DeVito, John Guare, Martin Sheen, David Milch, Robert Towne, Tom Wolfe, E.L. Doctorow, Pulitzer Prize winners A. Scott Berg and Elizabeth Frank, Gore Vidal, and "many other fans, journalists, filmmakers, playwrights, and artists inspired by Salinger's work." Michael Fleming, the first journalist in the world to view the film, said Salerno's picture was "arrestingly powerful and exhaustively researched." Additionally, Fleming announced that Salerno had co-written a 700 page biography on Salinger with New York Times bestselling author David Shields. The Salinger film was profiled in Entertainment Weekly and Newsweek and is scheduled for release in 2012.
In 2010, Salerno joined the writing-producing team of Hawaii Five-0. In its first season, Hawaii Five-0 also won the "Favorite New TV Drama" at the 37th People's Choice Awards on January 5, 2011. Series star Scott Caan was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor - Series, Miniseries or Television Film for his role as Danny on Hawaii Five-0. In addition to his producing duties, Salerno was credited for writing the episode "Po'ipu" (Episode 9) on November 15, 2010, co-writing "El Malama" (Episode 16) on February 7, 2011 and "Ho'op'i" (Episode 20) on April 18, 2011 which featured a special guest appearance by Sean Combs.
In addition to his own writing, Salerno also runs The Story Factory a company that produces the work of screenwriters and authors. The company has had six New York Times bestsellers.
In 2004 Salerno became the youngest "Guest of Honor" speaker in the history of the Los Angeles Screenwriting Expo. Shane Emmett is an award winning actor. But who isn't right? Sure he has recently worked opposite Nicole Kidman in 'Nine Perfect Strangers' and Deborah Mailman in 'Total Control', and over the years has played roles such as Canberra Newspaper magnate 'Max Newton in 'Power Games', home-wrecker, 'Mark Gilmour' in 'Home and Away', Oncologist 'Dr Patrick' on 'Offspring' and nightclub manager 'Clayton Timms' in the Universal series 'Precinct 13'. Sure he has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Australian theatre, sings like a bird and expertly moves between Irish, Scottish and American accents like a native. But there is far more to this man than thespian thaumaturgy.
He has built two houses with his bare hands for instance, raised three beautiful daughters, wrote and performed a one man stage show 'From Here to Eternity;, published a young adult fiction series 'Obscura', created an award winning feature documentary in 2020 'Lost in the Crowd' and continues to sing cabaret shows to packed out theatres in weird and wonderful country towns.

He has won international awards such as Tropfest New York, Edinburgh International FF and Inside Film, winning Best International Actor at the Belgium Move Me FF in 2019 and has received awards from Hollywood royalty such as Julianne Moore and Billy Cruddup who clearly think he is pretty good, that he is the most interesting guy in the room.

Shane Ryan-Reid began making films at the age of 7 after his father introduced him to video editing at the age of 5. He made action films in hopes to be like and appear in Jean-Claude Van Damme movies, but at the age of 14 he decided to delve into dramas and movies about troubled kids. Shane directed his own films simply as a means for being able to act and write. He never wanted to direct.
When Shane was 19 he saw Tim Roth's The War Zone (1999) and the explicit and confrontational Baise-moi (2000). After viewing such films he realized that he could have an impact with film-making in regards to issues like child abuse and sexual assault, in an effort to bring awareness and understanding to important topics through cinema. This caused Shane to become a controversial figure in his hometown when he began making violent films involving stories of sexual abuse. Soon followed underground and indie appeal via the internet before Shane debuted his first theatrical release in 2007. Academy Award nominated actress Lesley Ann Warren was so outraged by the promotional materials the Laemmle Theatres displayed of Shane's film that she successfully argued that his promotions be banned. In 2009 the mainstream news attacked Shane after he announced plans to make a movie about human trafficking and the Stockholm Syndrome, loosely inspired by the current real-life rescue of Jaycee Dugard, with Lia Marie Johnson set to star. Shane dropped the project to make My Name Is 'A' by Anonymous (2012), a film about convicted (then accused) killer Alyssa Bustamante. Shane called the media's treatment of Alyssa a "monstrous witch-hunt" (similar to what he had just gone through with the media), that focused more on sensationalizing the loss of two children than on trying to understand the reasons behind why it happened. He also made claims that he believed Alyssa "did not act alone" and/or might not have even committed the murder. Shane and Alyssa spoke briefly with each other, years after the murder and her conviction.
In 2014, director Albert Pyun (Cyborg (1989)) cast Shane in The Interrogation of Cheryl Cooper (2014) (his first leading role), which then landed him a role in Gregory Hatanaka's Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance (2015). In 2015 Shane directed and co-starred in American Virus (2015), co-writing the film with his lead actress, Miss Golden Globe Kathryn Eastwood (daughter of Clint Eastwood). In 2019 he starred in Choke (2020), a continuation of his character, Brandon, from his controversial debut feature film (this time with Hatanaka writing and directing the project). Since then Shane has gone on to land leading and supporting roles in over 35 films.
Around 2020 Shane began co-producing projects by other filmmakers, totaling more than 150 films by 2024. He's produced films with actors such as Shelley Duvall (in her return to cinema after a 21-year absence), 4-time Oscar nominee Ed Harris, Mindhunter (2017) star Holt McCallany, Uncharted (2022) star Sophia Ali, the final films of the late Tom Sizemore, the return of controversial 2-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey, 2024 Golden Globe nominee Alan Ruck (in his first performance since the end of the acclaimed HBO show, Succession (2018)), Oscar winners Richard Dreyfuss and Louis Gossett Jr., Oscar nominees Bruce Dern, Sally Kirkland, Peter Weller and Eric Roberts, Golden Globe nominees Malcolm McDowell, Lance Henriksen, Nancy Allen and Nikki Blonsky, the final film of Lance Kerwin, National Board of Review winner Bai Ling, Critics Choice Awards winner Jonathan Lipnicki, Screen Actors Guild Awards winner Eli Roth and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee Lorelei Linklater, MTV Movie Awards nominee Tom Arnold, horror icons Lin Shaye (Insidious (2010)), Bonnie Aarons (The Nun (2018)) and Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)), 90's icons Devon Sawa (Eminem: E (2000)), Tara Reid (American Pie (1999)), Edward Furlong (Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)), Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs (1992)), Richard Grieco (21 Jump Street (1987)) and Jason Scott Lee (Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993)), 80's superstar Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy (1984), Short Circuit (1986)), Grammy Award winners 'Weird Al' Yankovic and Coolio, and many more. He's produced films alongside Academy Award-winning producer Jonathan Sanger (The Elephant Man (1980), Vanilla Sky (2001)), Dale Armin Johnson (Pawn Sacrifice (2014), The Lost City of Z (2016)), writer/producer John Fusco (Young Guns (1988), The Highwaymen (2019)), executive producer and showrunner Peter M.
