A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Sara Silveira is one of the most active film producers in Brazil. Residing in São Paulo since 1981, she began working in film as production assistant on Nasce uma Mulher, by Roberto Santos, and as location producer for Além da Paixão, by Bruno Barreto. Since October 1991 she heads Dezenove Som e Imagens, a production company she founded with filmmaker Carlos Reichenbach. Her partner in the company is producer Maria Ionescu.
Among some of her films are All the Dead Ones, by Caetano Gotardo & Marco Dutra (70th Berlinale); Good Manners, by Juliana Rojas & Marco Dutra (70th Locarno Festival - Special Jury Prize); Hard Labor, by Juliana Rojas & Marco Dutra (Un Certain Regard - Cannes 2011); Cinema, Aspirins and Vultures, by Marcelo Gomes (Un Certain Regard - Cannes 2005, and the film chosen to represent Brazil at the Oscars in 2007); Brainstorm, by, Lais Bodansky (54th Locarno Festival - Young Jury award), and Buccaneer Soul, by Carlos Reichenbach (30th Pesaro Film Festival - Premio del Trentennale).
Sara has participated as juror on the Carte Blanche selection committee from the 67th edition of Locarno Festival, as well as president of the jury from the Horizontes Latinos section of the 62nd San Sebastian Film Festival. She has also received the honor of being invited to minister a master class on La Fabrique des Cinemas du Monde, at the Cannes Festival 2014.- Sara Silveira is known for Coração d'Ouro (2015), 5 Para a Meia Noite (2009) and Portugal no Coração (2003).
