At JAN he pioneered techniques like geo-targeting Congressional Districts for advocacy and political advertising, using online petitions and surveys for list building and activist recruitment. His innovations were so groundbreaking that Juno patented them and Campaigns and Elections Magazine named Roger a Rising Star of American Politics in 2000. In 2002 Roger founded his own company, Advocacy Inc. to provided data, online advertising and consulting services. Advocacy Inc. pioneered matching voter files for email addresses, doing the first national match of the voter file in 2003, as well as being the first to provide Members of Congress with emails for official communication. In 2003, The American Association of Political Consultants awarded Roger their prestigious Pollie Award in recognition of Advocacy Inc. creating the first online political video advertising for MoveOn.org. In 2010 Roger founded his second company, Advocacy Data.
