Director/Cinematographer Rex Miller is a visual storyteller with an extensive background as a photographer/filmmaker, having started originally as a photojournalist in N.Y.C.
Recently awarded, as Director, Best Sports Documentary for BOTH the Grierson Awards (UK) and the Critics Choice Awards (NYC). He has been part of 2 Peabody-Award-Winning projects (as Cinematographer) and twice nominated for an Emmy for Cinematography.
He began his career working for local, national and international newspapers and magazines ((CBS, Musician, Newsweek, New York Magazine, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Spin, Sony Music, and Time) in New York City, after growing up there on the blue collar streets of Queens. His mother emigrated to NY from Jamaica, West Indies and is of Portuguese, African and Jewish descent. .

An accomplished musician, performer, and songwriter, Rex began playing piano at age eleven and received his training in classical piano and music theory at The University of Washington. Rex's original piano compositions having been entertaining and touching audiences for more than two decades. As a solo performer Rex plays an eclectic mix of his own compositions as well as moving renditions of blues, jazz, and pop standards. He has designed, written, and performed the music for a number of large scale productions including the highly acclaimed: "Special Address to the Children of Idaho" by His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama in Sun Valley, Idaho and "Share The Magic" with Henry Winkler - both directed by Sandra Cavanaugh. Rex has been the musical director for more than 15 years for The Center for Spiritual Living in Boise. A full time professional musician, Rex is a member of a number of other popular bands. A dynamic couple on and off stage, Rex Miller and Sandra Cavanaugh have been playing together as a duo and in a number of bands for over 15 years. In addition to performing and writing together, they have teamed up on a number of theatrical and video productions. The first song they ever wrote together was "The Heart Of Every Child" written for the Dalai Lama's Children's day in Sun Valley, Idaho in 2006. Their latest rendition of the song appears on their album "Let Go". Rex and Sandra are released their first album entitled "Let Go" on December 4, 2013. "Let Go" debuts 15 original inspirational spiritual tunes ranging in styles from driving Blues to soulful meditative ballads. Their second album of originals soulful blues and jazz originals will be released later in 2015. They are also creating a meditation CD and Rex is composing the score for Sandra's feature film AVATARA.
