Michael Walters is an award winning American director, producer, writer, cinematographer and editor, who's professional experience spans over 1100 productions within 32 years of film and television. His calling for being behind the camera, began at age 12 when he was gifted a portable reel to reel recorder, and at age 15 a friend loaned him a super 8mm film camera.
At age 16, Michael began audio mixing and engineering for gospel concert tours, and worship events, and begin working behind the camera in television studio tapings. It was then Michael set his goal to make his way into television production as soon as possible, which in the 1970's the opportunity was extremely limited. Michael sold and designed professional audio systems and radio studios for several years until in 1984 he was hired to record location audio for a post 1984 Olympics segment of ABC's Wide World of Sports, featuring gold medal boxing heavyweights Tyrell Bigs and Evander Holyfield. Michael soon moved into the directors chair of a local nightly television program, and caught the eye of Hollywood golden era producer, William Trull who contracted Michael to begin directing and producing commercials and a documentary for Trull's advertising agency.
Michael used his natural talent and eye for developing marketing concepts and focused on writing, producing and directing television commercials for the next couple years moving from a successful free lance operator to becoming the first hire in the launch of what was to become a massively successful pilot program for the national cable advertising industry, providing commercial content for several cable networks. During this stint Michael had produced over 170 commercials, a foreign medical documentary, a television series and gained the attention of MTV who recognized Michael for his "out of the box" concepts including cut to the beat edits, and inventing the "swish pan", which became adapted immediately into many music videos of the 80's era.
Offers soon followed including a ten year contract to produce and direct national commercials for Cadillac but family circumstances did not allow Michael to pursue this dream opportunity. However two years later Michael did land in New York fulfilling another dream job, managing, directing and co-producing a nationally daily syndicated talk show centered on teen issues, for which he found to be both creatively challenging and spiritually rewarding. In 1989 Michael's directing and production managing skills soon caught the attention of head hunters for Disney's newly launched Buena Vista television division but Michael instead returned home to Texas where he worked a short stint in news for the NBC affiliate in Fort Worth. In 1991 Michael launched a broadcast and production services and consulting company which among his many international clients he launched and supported several national satellite television networks, and operated two television stations in Texas In 2000 Michael relocated to Virginia to expand opportunities, and while there he returned to news working for an NBC affiliate which allowed him to work in the White House Press Corps, and at the University of Virginia Medical Center studios. The following year Michael went north to build and manage two television stations for DayStar Television in the Boston and Buffalo markets.
In 2001 Michael returned to Texas free lancing in video production and in 2009 Michael founded HD Texas, during which time he produced several music videos, short films, industrials and commercials for several national marketing companies such as Pixelfish, Home and Garden Television, and Citysearch. The company was re-branded in 2012 to HD Texas Motion Pictures Company as it moved its commitment to producing life-affirming messages with the first being a slate of several feature length motion picture projects including The Deadliest Gun, What Child is This, and the My Heart Dies With You, trilogy just to name a few of the titles now in development- Composer
