He is a French Canadian, born in the small northern Quebec town of Chibougamau. At the age of 11 his dream was to be a movie director so he started to record his own short movies with an old borrowed VHS Camera. At 15, he bought his first camera, and at 18 he bought a professional HVX200 with his savings. Because he was the only filmmaker in his home town, he taught himself to make in-camera edits, graphics and VFX, creating a web series, one full length movie, and more than 50 amateur videos and short movies. After graduating from ?? in Montreal, Michael had a variety of film jobs including matte painter, colorist, and motion designer. He worked as an assistant editor for Felix and Paul Studio (Virtual Reality) where he built their editorial workflow. This work inspired him to become a VFX Editor. Today he is working full time at Cinesite Studios as a Senior VFX Editor.- Michael Gregg Michaud was born in Maine. After working for two seasons in summer stock at Lakewood Theatre in Skowhegan, Maine, he moved to Los Angeles. Michaud was profiled in the book, "Los Angeles: City of Dreams". He edited the expanded and updated edition of actress Tippi Hedren's "The Cats of Shambala" (Shambala Press, 1992). In 1996, he edited the educational book, "Let's Discover Wildlife" for Tippi Hedren and her nonprofit organization, The Roar Foundation. Michaud co-wrote (with Tippi Hedren and Steve Whitmire) the documentary film, "The Roar Foundation" in 1997. For ten years, Michaud wrote special material for Hedren which has been performed in concert, for television, and was included in a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills, California. An animal rights enthusiast, Michaud produced many fundraising events for The Roar Foundation, and for actress Linda Blair's dog rescue, Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation. In addition, he was a contributor to Linda Blair's book, "Going Vegan!" (SHA, Inc, 2001). Michaud worked with Oscar-nominated author, Eugene Vale, on Vale's screenplay, "The Thirteenth Apostle" based on Vale's novel of the same name. For more than 20 years, Michaud has worked with comic actor ("Laugh-In"), Alan Sues, on special material, a screenplay, and Sues' one-man show, "Two For The Road". Michaud's plays, "The Levesque Family Tree"(1988), "American Saints" (1991), and "The Marriage of Mike and Pete"(1992) have been performed in workshops in Hollywood, and his play, "Scenes From A Family" (1988) starring Travis Fine, Kevin Best, and Andre Warren, and directed by Jeri Arredondo was produced in Hollywood at the Complex Theatre. Michaud is also an accomplished and award-winning photographer and is currently represented by the Lora Schlesinger Gallery in Santa Monica. In addition, Michaud is a published lyricist. His song, "Lilies Are Waiting", (Music: Rogers, Lyrics: Michaud) is on the album, "Paul Rogers", 1996 Overnight Music. His poems, fiction and non-fiction have appeared in more than 250 magazines, books, and anthologies in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Austria, England, Wales, Finland, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa and Sweden. Michaud is the author of "Sal Mineo, A Biography", (Crown Archetype, 2010). In 2011, the book was a finalist for a "Lambda Book Award". "Sal Mineo, A Biography" was a pick of the month in Los Angeles Magazine and Turner Classic Movies, and appeared on Leonard Maltin's recommended holiday list in December 2010. "Sal Mineo, A Biography" was updated and released in paperback (Three Rivers Press) in October 2011. Actor James Franco optioned the book before the official publication date. Franco adapted the book for the screen, and directed the film titled "Sal", which screened at the Venice Film Festival in September 2011. Michaud lives in Hollywood.
