José Luis Acosta was born in 1961 in Úbeda, Jaén, Andalucía, Spain. He is a director and producer, known for Historia de un búho (2001), La Noche (2020) and Fuera de lugar (2008).- José Acosta is known for Birds of Passage (2018), Cienaga Oscura (2023) and A Strangeness in My Mind (2023).

The son of Cuban immigrants, Jose grew up in Washington DC, doodling his way through school. He saw Star Wars when he was 12 and was inspired to tell stories with moving pictures, both animated and live-action.
Jose studied English literature at the University of Maryland, with special attention to Shakespeare, Mary Shelley, and Poe, as well as creative writing. Jose earned his Masters degree in Film and TV from Georgia State University with a full academic scholarship. He won a regional EMMY for his animation on a PBS kid's show in 1998, and was nominated several more times.
After serving as Art Director at the Home Depot headquarters, and Director of Broadcast Design at ad agency Studiocom, Jose began directing commercials with his production company, DoubleRaven Studios. He has served as producer, director, DP, editor, animator, and/or visual effects artist on a wide variety of projects for some of the worlds best-known brands like Aflac, AT&T, Cartoon Network, CNN, Coca-Cola, Crayola, Disney, Dunkin Donuts, Ferrari, Ford, The Home Depot, NASA, Nerf, PBS, Porsche, Showtime, The Weather Channel, and many others.
Today Jose is back in the entertainment industry where he started. He designed visual effects for a Cartoon Network show, and lensed a $3.8M independent feature in 2011. He completed his TV directorial debut, a one hour historical drama (Poe's Mystery Theatre) in 2014, which he also wrote and edited.

José Homer Mora Acosta, a Honduran Sound-engineer, chief/operator and Sound-Mixer, professor at Cinema Schools (regulary at Altos de Chavón) Born 25 July 1988 in Tegucigalpa, M.D.C., Studied Ad & Communication in UNITEC, Laureate Universities, then went to Cuba for Cinema and Sound Studies at the EICTV. His primary occupation is the authenticity of Sound: above all he likes building the whole universe of sound of one film, through every stage from production to post production sound-mixing. His work has been presented in several Film Festivals such as Rotterdam Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Toulouse Latin America Film Festival, FID Marseille, Lima Latin American Film Festival, Bildrausch Filmfest Basel.
