Luqman was born in a village near Jallandhar city,British India on Dec.23,1922.Luqman was first an assistant director to famous film director Shaukat Hussain Rizvi of super-hit film Zeenat (1945) fame.After creation of Pakistan in 1947,he migrated to Pakistan.He was hired as the film director for the second Pakistan-made film Shahida (1949). He got his big breakthrough in the Pakistani film industry from super-hit film in the Punjabi language Pattan (1955) which had superb music and popular hit songs by the legendary music director Ghulam Ahmad Chishti.Next year in 1956,he again had another super-hit film Lakht-E-Jigar (1956) with popular music by Ghulam Ahmed Chishti- especially a 'Lori' in the vocals of playback singer Noor Jehan - " Chanda Ki Nagri Sey Aaja Ri Nindia".Then he produced and directed a couple of movies himself Aadmi (1958),Ayaz (1960) , Farishta (1961) and_Pakeeza (1968)_.He made a total of 16 films and is considered to be among the pioneer film directors of Pakistan.In 2015,his son Mubasher Luqman is a famous and controversial TV anchor on ARY TV,Pakistan.Film Director Luqman died on 23 Jan. 1994 in Lahore, Pakistan.Renowned Indian film actor Dilip Kumar has great regard for Luqman who,as an assistant director to Shaukat Hussain Rizvi,helped him in 1947, to get the lead role in his film Jugnu (1947).This film ,with Noor Jehan in the title role,was Dilip Kumar's first major box-office hit.- Stan Landes was born on 8 December 1923 in Bronx, New York, USA.
