Black Summer (2019)
The best zombie video game I've ever watched
It's a great video game, with exciting action sequences (it's all action sequences) and characters who are fun to look at and root for. Don't expect more, and I bet you'll really enjoy the show.
Stay Close (2021)
Clear favorite for Best Picture
You might be shocked to learn that a bad show could be made from an opus by Harlan Coben. When you recover, let me tell you that I went in to this show with very low expectations, and my expectations were thoroughly met.
The plot, which relies on the most tired trope in crime fiction (first word "s," second word "k") is beyond ludicrous. Apparently, people in this world don't know that you can Google names and images. Changing your identity and staying hidden is, contrary to my assumptions, incredibly easy, even if you live right nearby the people that you're trying to escape from! And two characters wandered in from The Truman Show, or maybe a Broadway musical, I'm not sure which. And they are joined by the world-weary, divorced cop with a sarcastic wit, who has been wandering endlessly through and endless series of other, better cop shows.
But hey, the acting is good.
