Dallas star Linda Gray is proud of her portrayal of boozy Sue Ellen in the hit drama because it prompted fans struggling with drink problems to seek help.
The actress played oil tycoon J.R. Ewing's alcoholic wife in the classic show and she's convinced the plotlines made it more socially acceptable to discuss booze addiction openly.
She tells Britain's Weekend magazine, "Nowadays, if you have a problem with alcohol, it's easier to get help, but then it was like you had leprosy and people would say to me, 'Because of Sue Ellen, I went to Alcoholics Anonymous.' It felt good that we were helping in some way."...
