Gossip Girl star Jessica Szohr is looking to the future following her character's axe from the hit TV show, insisting she is "ready for a change".
The actress has portrayed Vanessa Abrams since the teen drama's inception in 2007, but she and co-star Taylor Momsen will not be part of the line-up for the fifth season when the series, which is set in New York, returns to the small screen this autumn.
Szohr insists she is not disappointed by producers' decision to drop her from the cast and is grateful to have worked with co-stars Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford and on/off boyfriend Ed Westwick.
She tells Eonline.com, "When I started the fourth season, I kind of had a talk with the producers. We didn't know what we were going to do with the characters. After playing someone for four years, it can be a little repetitive. So I was ready for a change.
"I had so much fun and I made friends I'll have for a lifetime and it was so great to work in the city, but I got the most I could out of Vanessa."
And Szohr is now planning to make the most of her summer before throwing herself back into her work.
She says, "I'm gonna take a trip with all my girlfriends. I'll probably go to the Hamptons (luxury retreat in New York) a few times... I have two movies that I start in August and July and I have a couple (of) movies coming out in the next couple (of) months."...
