IMDb Photos Partner: MPTV

The Motion Picture and Television Archive (MPTV) is dedicated to the preservation, documentation, and promotion of the most outstanding past and present photography from all facets of the entertainment industry. MPTV's growing library includes over one million fully documented images by more than fifty photographers; many never before published with biographies of the photographers wherever available.

Their goal is to promote the conservation, exhibition and publication of this photography while assuring proper recognition to the photographer and/or accreditation to the proper source.

All funds generated by their efforts are shared with the photographers, and/or their estates, or rightful owners of the photographs and are dedicated to the continuing effort to collect, preserve, exhibit and publish this important work for future generations.

Sid Avery, MPTV's Founder, estimates that he took over 350,000 photographs during his first career as a working professional photographer from 1937 to the '60s. The fact that only about a tenth of Sid's own work now survives is part of what motivates his concern for the work of others. Therefore, in addition to its dedication to research, cataloguing, and preservation, MPTV is now one of the leading stock agencies of its type.

Besides a brisk business in stock sales, MPTV has discovered recently that fine-art galleries have shown a strong interest in selling original prints and modern prints from original negatives. Another way to enjoy this work is in Sid's book Hollywood at Home : A Family Album, 1950-1965, which presents a wonderful collection of our favorite stars in candid moments with friends and family.
