LaBeouf Faces DUI Charge After Sunday Morning Car Crash

Transformers star Shia Labeouf is in trouble with the law again after he was arrested early on Sunday and charged with drink driving. Police questioned the young star after he was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles, and quickly realised he had been drinking. The Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull star's truck flipped across a road after colliding with another vehicle. LaBeouf, 22, and his passenger were injured in the accident. The actor smashed his hand in the crash and will reportedly require surgery to fix the damage. His unnamed passenger sustained a minor head injury, according to Tmz.com. LaBeouf was taken to hospital following the accident. Reports suggest the actor will be cited and released on suspicion of a Dui misdemeanour. LaBeouf's brushes with the law have hit the headlines on a number of occasions in the past year - in November , he was booked on trespassing charges after refusing to leave a drugstore in Chicago, Illinois and in February , he was charged with smoking in a prohibited area in California.

Bale 'Changed By Fame'

Actor Christian Bale's fiery temper was triggered by the pressures of fame, his former assistant has claimed. The Dark Knight star, 34, was arrested earlier this week (ends25Jul08) over claims he assaulted his mother and sister on the eve of The Dark Knight premiere in London. And ex-employee Harrison Cheung blames Bale's early start in Hollywood for his temper. He says, "When he filmed a movie called Metroland (1997), his nickname was Tandy because he was always throwing tantrums. "He would yell until he was red in the face. It was very intimidating. "Fame started to change Christian. He went from earning ?100,000 a movie to earning millions." Cheung believes Bale, who also played a convincing American Psycho in the chilling movie adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel, is not that far removed from his Batman character. He explains, "People say Christian is a great Batman because he brings a darkness to the role. But I know the real Christian and I know the darkness is not an act." Cheung also claims Bale never really wanted a career in Hollywood and was forced into acting by his father, Davd. The former assistant insists the Batman Begins star was insecure and lacked confidence. He adds, "He'd never trained as an actor and told me there were demons inside him saying, 'You can't do this. You're not good enough.' "He thought about quitting many times. Then he'd say, 'But who would support my family?'

Dark Knight Breaks $300 Million Record

The Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight has set another record at the box office by becoming the first film to pass the $300 million in just 10 days. The film became the first movie to hit the $200 million mark in five days after breaking all opening-weekend box office records last week . Thanks to a staggering $75.6 million second weekend take, the Batman film has racked up over $314 million since its release in America 10 days ago. It took previous record holder Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 16 days to pass the $300 million mark in 2006. Meanwhile, Will Ferrell's new comedy Step Brothers opened big in second place with a $30 million opening weekend take and Abba movie musical Mamma Mia! slipped to third with $17.9 million. The new X-Files film, The X Files: I Want To Believe, was a disappointment in its first weekend on release - it took in just $10.2 million.

Man From U.N.C.L.E Persuaded Nicholson Not To Quit

Jack Nicholson almost turned his back on an acting career during his youth after suffering a loss of confidence, according to his pal Robert Vaughn. The Shining actor became so frustrated while rehearsing scenes with Vaughn in a mid-1950s acting class, he considered embarking on a different career path. But, in his upcoming memoir, A Fortunate Life, Vaughn reveals he managed to persuade Nicholson to change his mind. Vaughn writes, "He declared, `Vaughnie, I'm going to give myself two more years in this business. Then I'm going to look for another way to make a living.' "'Hang in there, Jack, ' I told him. 'You're too young to quit.'" Nicholson took the advice, finally "figured out how to do this thing called acting", and shot to fame in 1969's Easy Rider.

Lohan 'Fine' After Bike Crash

Actress Lindsay Lohan is recovering after she was hit by a motorcyclist in New York on Saturday . The Mean Girls star had spent the evening clubbing with her friend Samantha Ronson and had just left the venue when the biker collided with her as they crossed the road. Lohan was treated at Midtown Manhattan's Beth Israel Medical Centre and checked herself out of hospital at around 4am. Her father Michael says, "She's not hurt. That's all I really care about." A spokesperson for Lohan has confirmed she is "fine".

Sheen Denies 'Child Abuse' Slur

Actor Charlie Sheen has furiously denied a "vile" allegation from his ex-wife Denise Richards that he molested their two young daughters. Richards' lawyer Neal Hersh called an emergency hearing in Los Angeles last week to review "serious issues" in the actor's home that it was said could be damaging to the couple's kids. The New York Post's gossip column PageSix has now reported that Richards had made an allegation of child abuse. According to the publication, Richards screened videos of their children Sam and Lola during the hearing apparently acting in strange and disturbing ways. But Sheen's lawyers - who succeeded in getting the "evidence" dismissed - presented their own videos of the girls acting normally at the actor's house. A source tells the newspaper, "Denise's accusations were vile. "She was basically trying to say Charlie (manipulated) the kids and acted inappropriately with them. It's disgusting and totally untrue. Charlie is furious - Denise has really pushed it too far this time." The insider further claims Richards took the case to court to boost ratings for her flagging reality TV show It's Complicated. The source adds, "She thinks a court battle would be good for ratings so she wants all overnight visits with the girls ceased, and monitored visits with her nanny. "She invited the media circus to the hearing and even wanted reporters in the judge's chambers - which wasn't allowed. It's ridiculous." Representatives for both Sheen and Richards have refused to comment on the report.

Bardem & Cruz Engagement Imminent?

Spanish actor Javier Bardem is to set propose to girlfriend Penelope Cruz, according to reports. British newspaper The Mail on Sunday claims Bardem will whisk the 34-year-old actress away on a romantic holiday next month , when he will pop the question. A source says, "Both Penelope and Javier are very excited about their future together. "It has been rumoured that Javier has already proposed but he hasn't asked Penelope to marry him yet. He plans to ask when they are away." The couple first met on the set of 1992 movie Jamon Jamon, but only began dating after reuniting onscreen for Woody Allen's movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona last year .

Paparazzi Battle Bodyguards At Pitt & Jolie Home

Two paparazzi photographers have been involved in a scuffle with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's bodyguards, after they were found hiding in the grounds of the stars' French home. The two men, who were wearing camouflage gear in a bid to go unnoticed, were discovered by members of the Hollywood superstar couple's security team at their rented French chateau on Thursday . As they were being escorted from the grounds, one of the snappers allegedly went "berserk" and lashed out. It is claimed he even bit a bodyguard and yelled that he was infected with Hepatitis C. Tony Webb, head of the team guarding the stars' estate, says, "We caught the two and tried to escort them off the property and the guy's just gone berserk, thrashing out, kicking and actually biting one of the security people, breaking his finger, drawing blood and screaming that he had Hepatitis C." The men were thought to be trying to get exclusive snaps of the couple's newborn twins before they are unveiled for the first time in a publication - which has paid $11 million for the pictures. Earlier this week (begs21Jul08) Pitt threatened legal action against any publication which prints photos of his family at the French house after an ad agency offered to sell snaps of the family playing in the grounds of their home. Pitt's lawyer says, "The family are really fed up that these people are trespassing so we're going to try to get restraining orders and use the law to do whatever we have to to keep them off the property."

Bean Arrested Over Wife Assault Claims

Lord Of The Rings star Sean Bean has been arrested on suspicion of domestic assault. The actor was questioned by police in London for six hours after his new wife Georgina filed a complaint. She alleges the 49-year-old assaulted her during a row at their London home. But Georgina, 29, later dropped the assault claim. A police spokesman said: "Police were called to a residential address. A male was arrested. "He was subsequently informed no further action was being taken against him." His wife told reporters following Bean's release from custody, "Everything is OK. Sean and I are at home together enjoying the sunshine. He was arrested. Everything was blown out of proportion. "The police held him quite a while, but Sean is fine and I'm fine. There's no problem between us." The couple wed in February . It is Bean's fourth marriage.

Long Quits Barrymore Film After Split

Drew Barrymore's ex-boyfriend Justin Long has reportedly quit a role in the actress' directorial debut Whip It - because he is still too raw from their split to work alongside her. The pair parted ways earlier this month (7Jul08), after dating for one year. And Long is still reeling from being dumped by Barrymore - and is not ready to return to work, according to E! Online. A source tells the website, "He couldn't stand working with her and not being with her. He's too upset. "She dumped him. She was hot and cold. One minute she was in love with him and the next she wanted to break up with him."

Haim Blames Addiction On Abuse

Eighties child star Corey Haim has blamed his addiction to alcohol on being sexually abused as a child. Haim and Corey Feldman both admitted they had been molested by different men when they were just 14 on a recent episode of their reality TV show The Two Coreys. And Haim - who claims he has been sober for 10 months - says the abuse led him to a battle with alcohol and has accused Feldman of failing to support him. He says, "(Feldman) said to me, 'I'll always have your back.' But he knew there was a rape issue going on with me for about two years, and what did he do about it? Nothing." But Feldman says Haim is playing the "blame game" and refuses to speak to him until he sobers up. He tells People.com, "As a friend and somebody that cares deeply about the guy, I'm not going to watch him destroy himself. "I think that he needs to demonise somebody. As a 14-year-old, how could I be responsible for actions that happened between him and another person?"

Cops Called To Connery's Home In Neighbour Dispute

Sir Sean Connery's long-running feud with his New York neighbour has hit the headlines once more, after police were called to the property on Friday . The veteran 007 star has been locked in a lengthy legal battle with Dr. Burton Sultan regarding repair work carried out on the upper east side property, which the latter claims was of substandard quality. The latest argument stems from some pieces of scaffolding which have allegedly been left in Sultan's backyard by builders working on Connery's home, which is spread over the top two floors of the townhouse. According to website Tmz.com, Sultan called the cops to make a complaint about the mess on Friday - but when officers arrived to answer the call, the neighbour was not at home. The site claims Sultan intends to dial 911 again in an attempt to get Connery to remove the 20-odd pieces of scaffolding.

Berry Furious About Trespass Pictures

Halle Berry has lashed out at a paparazzo she claims wandered onto private property to get shots of the actress and her baby. The new mum fired off a brief statement to the media on Friday , claiming shots of her holding four-month-old Nahla Ariela Aubry in her back garden were taken by a trespasser. Berry flew into a rage when she saw the pictures on the Internet and in two celebrity magazines, and has refuted claims the shots were taken while she was "out and about in Los Angeles." Her attorney, Evan Spiegel, has filed a criminal complaint and an investigation is reportedly underway. Spiegel claims he has witnesses who saw the photographers conducting a "very blatant and invasive trespass."

Jackman Thrills X-men Fans With Wolverine Teaser

Movie star Hugh Jackman thrilled comic book fans at Comic-Con in San Diego, California on Thursday - by turning out to thank them for his career. The Aussie actor was a last minute addition to the convention when he showed up to introduce the first trailer footage from his X-Men spin-off X-Men Origins: Wolverine. After receiving a standing ovation from X-Men fanatics, a beaming Jackman said he marked the date for Comic-Con in his diary so he could personally thank fans for their support. He said, "Without these guys, there would be no Wolverine, and I would probably be in a gas station serving gas. "These guys are the most loyal, hardcore, supportive fans out there, so there was no way I was going to miss it." Jackman, who plays the hairy X-Men mutant, revealed the teaser footage he previewed had literally just come off the reel, explaining the much-anticipated new film had just been completed.

Ferrell Caught Up In Hang Gliding Death Story

Will Ferrell once had to spend a day calling members of his family - to assure them he was still alive. The Anchorman star was incorrectly named as the victim of a hang gliding accident. He says, "It was this crazy rumour that I had died and it was not fun to go through. It was rough. "My publicist told me about it and I had to call my family and make sure they didn't hear it first - and believe it." But Ferrell is getting used to hearing and reading strange rumours about himself. He tells Wenn, "I heard that I was a germaphobe, and I carry my own pen to sign autographs. Crazy."

Hawke Shows Off Baby Daughter

Ethan Hawke and his new wife Ryan Shawhughes have snubbed the opportunity to sell the first photos of their newborn baby daughter, by posing in public with the one-week-old. Shawhughes gave birth to Clementine Jane Hawke in a New York hospital last Friday . And the couple stepped out in Manhattan with their new daughter on Friday , killing any chance of a potential exclusive family photo deal with a tabloid magazine. Hawke and Shawhughes, who married in June , refused to chat with photographers as they carried tiny Clementine into a yellow cab. Magazine bosses have bought the first snaps of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins Knox and Vivienne for a reported $11 million (Gbp5.5 million), and an exclusive peek at Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves' baby son Levi was reportedly worth $3 million (Gbp1.5 million). That photo and others graced this week's OK! magazine.

Cyrus Pokes Fun At Gomez In Video Post

Singer/actress Miley Cyrus has taken aim at fellow Disney stars Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato in a new online video. The Hannah Montana star, 15, has posted new footage of herself and her best pal joking around as they mock an earlier video made by friends Gomez and Lovato, in which they talk about their love of make-up and cartoon characters Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . In her own take on the chat, Cyrus boasts about a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles T-shirt she's bought, saying: "I got a really cool shirt today. Like, really emo, like emo-mazing." Cyrus' video has now been interspersed with Gomez and Lovato's footage and posted on video-sharing website YouTube.com to show a frame-by-frame comparison of the two. The attack has sent online gossips into a spin, with many speculating that Cyrus' actions were prompted by reports her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas is dating Gomez. However, both Jonas and Gomez, who appears in The Jonas Brothers' new Burnin' Up video, have denied the claims.

Harvey Weinstein Takes Name Off Emmy List

Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has been forced to withdraw his name from contention for the 2008 Emmy Awards for his work on Project Runway - because the reality TV show listed too many producers. The Miramax boss took his name off the nominations list after the team behind the programme was told they had gone over the Emmy limit of 15 producers. Fellow producer Barbara Schneeweiss tells the New York Post's PageSix, "I called up Harvey and said, 'We have all these people who have worked so hard on the show who should be recognized'. He was great about it and said, 'I'll take one for the team'." Weinstein's brother Bob is still included on the credits - but elder sibling Harvey isn't bothered about missing out, and says, "I've gotten plenty of other awards. It's the right thing to do."

Jolie's Twins Conceived Artificially?

Angelina Jolie and partner Brad Pitt used fertility treatments to conceive their newborn twins, a new report has suggested. The couple was desperate to quickly expand their brood - and turned to artificial insemination so they wouldn't have to "deal with the stress" of trying to get pregnant, reports Us Weekly magazine. A source tells the publication, "They conceived through in vitro fertilisation. They both desperately wanted more babies soon." Last year , the Tomb Raider star told U.K. magazine Elle: "If we're going to have 10 kids, we'd like to raise them while we're young." Fraternal twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline - born this month in Nice, France - became the fifth and six children to join the Pitt-Jolie clan of Maddox, six, Pax, four, Zahara, three, and biological daughter Shiloh, two.

Attenborough Blames Violent Films For Youth Crime

British filmmaker Lord Richard Attenborough has called for an end to gratuitous violence on-screen - insisting graphic images in movies have led to a rise in youth crime. The Gandhi director, who starred as a knife-wielding thug in 1947's Brighton Rock, spoke out about violent scenes in movies and TV shows in a speech at Sussex University, England earlier this week (begs21Jul08). The veteran star accused the movie industry of creating a culture where film fans are no longer shocked by the use of guns and knives on the big screen. And he believes this may be connected to the sharp rise in knife crime in the U.K. since the start of 2008 - including the fatal stabbings of Harry Potter star Robert Knox and the brother of British soap actress Brooke Kinsella. Attenborough says, "Thirty years ago if (legendary late actor) Gary Cooper pulled out a gun the audience would give a sharp intake of breath. "Now the act of violence is the norm and we in the entertainment industry are partly responsible in making the presence of weapons such as knives almost an acceptable commonplace." He adds, "So now knife crime is not thought of as something that is horrific and to be abhorred. It is part of normal existence." Attenborough's comments come just weeks after a host of celebrities including singer Lily Allen and rapper Busta Rhymes called for an end to the spiralling knife crime epidemic in the U.K.

Spears/Federline Custody Battle Over

Britney Spears' custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline is officially over. A settlement was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday . In the documents, obtained by Tmz.com, Spears has five days to pay Federline's lawyer Mark Kaplan $250,000 (125,000) in fees, and she'll hand over $20,000 (Gbp10,000)-a-month in child support. There's no mention of an increase in visitation for the pop star - she currently enjoys three days and one night a week with her young sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Federline has sole custody of the boys.

Ritchie: 'Marriage To Madonna Is Good'

Filmmaker Guy Ritchie has broken his silence over reports his marriage to Madonna is in trouble, insisting everything's fine. The showbiz couple's union has been under intense media scrutiny in recent weeks, amid rumours they are on the verge of a divorce. Pop superstar Madonna has also come under fire for her close friendship with baseball star Alex Rodriguez, with the sportsman's estranged wife alleging she had an "affair of the heart" with Rodriguez. However, appearing at the San Diego International Comic-Con event in California on Thursday , director Ritchie appeared happy and content, reports People.com. When asked by reporters whether things are going well in his marriage, he replied, "As far as I'm aware of." Ritchie is currently busy promoting his upcoming action film Rocknrolla, which was filmed in his hometown of London. And he openly chatted about viewing the British capital through the eyes of Madonna, who moved from the U.S. to the U.K. when the pair wed in 2000. He said, "I was born there and I've seen it change and I know a great deal about it, I'm invested. I live vicariously through my wife, so I was once a spy and now I've become a tourist, and it's much more fun to live in London as a tourist than it is as a spy. "Someone told me the definition was a spy always looks for the bad stuff, and a tourist always looks for the good stuff. So that makes it easy, being married to an American."
