Tatum O'Neal has been branded a liar by the man arrested for selling her drugs in New York last month . Allen Garcia claims O'Neal hounded him for crack cocaine after he had approached her begging for money - and he accuses her of breaking a promise to help him. Speaking to the National Enquirer from New York's Riker's Island jail, Garcia says, "She said in an interview that she was going to help me, but neither she nor anyone else connected with her has contacted me since I've been in here." And Garcia insists the Paper Moon star should feel compelled to help him - because she's the reason he's behind bars. He adds, "She took a long look at me and immediately started questioning me about drugs. She was very insistent and wouldn't take no for an answer, or leave me alone." After they negotiated a price, Garcia claims he went off to buy the drugs. When he returned, cops swooped on the pair, arresting both. The 44-year-old actress pleaded guilty to misdemeanour charges and was fined and ordered to attend two half day drug-treatment classes. Garcia, 31, claims he now faces deportation to Mexico.

Zany U.S. funnyman Andy Dick has been arrested on suspicion of drug possession and sexual battery. Police picked the comic up in Murieta, California early on Wednesday morning after revellers at a local bar reported Dick's inappropriate behaviour. They told the authorities he had pulled a 17-year-old female's T-shirt and bra down to expose her breasts after leaving the bar. Police stopped Dick and friends as they drove away from the establishment in a truck. During a curbside search, police reportedly found marijuana and Xanax in Dick's pockets. The intoxicated comedian was booked at a nearby police station and remains in custody as Wenn went to press.

The birth of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins has sparked fierce protests in Nice, France - because the news has overshadowed a high profile murder case. Lindsay Lohan is making good progress in satisfying her probation requirements after pleading guilty to drink driving last year , according to her lawyer. The Mean Girls star was arrested twice in 2007 on drink driving charges and was sentenced to one day in prison, a community service order and an 18-month alcohol education programme. The actress also had to complete a three-day county coroner scheme in which she had to talk to victims of drink drivers and visit a morgue. And as Lohan is still on probation she is required to give regular progress reports in court. The star was not present at court in Beverly Hills, California on Tuesday but her attorney, Blair Berk, told the judge that the actress is "completely on track with everything." Lohan's next progress hearing has been set for January 2009.

Actor Kelsey Grammer has hit back after a team of workmen accused him of failing to pay them - insisting their lawsuit against him "has no merit." The former Frasier star was hit with legal action from Californian kitchen company The Last Detail earlier this month , amid accusations he commissioned work on his home but failed to settle the $150,000 (?75,000) bill. But Grammer is outraged by the lawsuit, insisting he paid the company nearly a million dollars in fees but eventually fired the team after they failed to honour their contract. And now he is considering legal action of his own. He tells Tmz.com, "(The lawsuit) has no merit. Their claim was filed over a year after they were fired for non-performance and after having received fees over $900,000. I pay my bills in a timely fashion - always have." And the actor's lawyer, Paul Sorrell adds, "We have just learned that this company, The Last Detail, owned by Greg Cline, has had at least three citations issued against them with the State of California's Consumer Board, including one instance of fraud."

Director Terry Gilliam has slammed the promotional campaign for the new Batman movie - insisting movie bosses are using Heath Ledger's tragic death to generate publicity for the movie. Heath Ledger's father Kim and his family are "proud" of the late actor's performance in The Dark Knight - as the film "is everything we hoped it would be and more." Ledger's family flew to New York to attend the screening of the tragic actor's movie on Monday . In a statement released by the family, Ledger's father says, "The Dark Knight is everything we hoped it would be and more. "Heath loved the experience of creating this character and working on the film. We are so proud of our boy." Ledger was found dead from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs at his New York apartment on 22 January . He was 28 years old. The Dark Knight hits movie theatres in the U.S. on 18 July .

Danny DeVito will direct his own adapted screenplay, which will star Pierce Brosnan and Morgan Freeman. Soul singer Natalie Cole has been diagnosed with hepatitis C. The star - daughter of the late Nat King Cole - was forced to pull out of a performance in California last week , citing illness. The condition was revealed during a routine examination and is likely to have been caused by Cole's excessive drug use throughout the 1980s. Dr. Graham Woolf from Los Angeles' UCLA/Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, who has been treating the Grammy winner, insists she has a good chance of making a full recovery. He says, "She has had a terrific response to her medication and is now virus negative. This gives her an increased chance of cure. But, she has also suffered significant side effects from the anti-viral medicine. Her side effects include fatigue, muscle aches and dehydration but she is recovering from these." And Cole has vowed to fight illness, saying, "I am embraced by the love and support of my family and friends; I am committed to my belief in myself and in my abiding faith to meet this challenge with a heartfelt optimism and determination."

Dolly Parton has written a Broadway musical version of her hit comedy movie Nine To Five. The show will open at New York's Marquis Theater next spring , and will feature the song Parton wrote for the 1980 film, plus a host of new tracks she has penned especially. The film followed three workers; Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as they took on their sexist boss. Their roles will be filled onstage by Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty. Mark Kudisch will play the bad boss. Parton - who's song Nine to Five earned her an Oscar nomination in 1981 - says of the project, "It's the most fun I've ever had as a songwriter." The musical will fill the gap at the Marquis left by the soon-to-close John Waters' show Cry-Baby.
