The birth of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins has been confirmed by the mayor of Nice, France, who has displayed the baby boy and girl's birth certificates at a press conference. Christian Estrosi showed off the documents on the steps of the Foundation Lenval hospital on Sunday , where Jolie delivered Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline the day before. The certificates showed Knox was born at 6.27pm and his sister a minute later. Estrosi described the birth as "a pride to Nice and all its citizens", reports People.com. He added, "On behalf of the inhabitants of Nice, I congratulate the happy parents, the most famous couple of the world who have chosen our city for this happy event. "I also congratulate the four brothers and sister of the newborns who are (history won't forget it) real 'Ni?ois' ('citizens of Nice')."

Actor Josh Brolin was arrested on Saturday after a bar brawl in Louisiana. The actor was on a break from shooting his role as George W. Bush for filmmaker Oliver Stone's forthcoming biopic W, when he allegedly got involved in a fight between revellers at a bar in Shreveport, Louisiana. According to the state's The Shreveport Times, the actor, as well as W co-star Jeffrey Wright, were arrested at 2am after they tried to impede local police officers who were splitting up the brawl. The pair received misdemeanour charges for interfering with police, according to Usweekly.com. Brolin was charged at the city jail and was forced to pay a $334 (?668) cash bond.

Angelina Jolie has given birth to a son and daughter in Nice, France with partner Brad Pitt at her side. The actress delivered her twins by Caesarian section at the Foundation Lenval hospital on Saturday . The twins, named Vivienne Marcheline, after Jolie's late mother Marcheline Bertrand, and Knox Leon, weighed 5 pounds (2.27 kilograms) and 5 pounds 3 ounces (2.35 kilograms) respectively. Jolie's obstetrician, Dr. Michael Sussmann, is said to have told reporters the operation, which was slated for Tuesday , had to be moved forward "for medical reasons". Sussmann tells People.com, "The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly. Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well." He adds, "The mother and father are very, very happy." Jolie and actor partner Pitt are already parents to adopted children Maddox, aged six, Pax, four, three year old Zahara, and biological daughter Shiloh, two.

Actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger has spoken out against anti-smoking campaigners trying to rid Hollywood films of cigarettes and cigars. The California governor, a renowned cigar aficionado, insists children need to be warned of the dangers of tobacco but argues that filmmakers who wish to feature smoking should be able to exercise their artistic freedom, particularly in period settings, according to FoxNews.com. He says, "I personally don't believe that we should erase cigarettes in movies. I don't believe that we should erase when someone smokes a cigar in a movie. I think that we should remind people and kids all the time about the dangers of smoking. Sharon Stone is back in trouble with animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta), after revelations she forced filmmakers to mutilate a spider. Acting legend Ernest Borgnine claims Stone - his co-star in 1981 horror film Deadly Blessing - insisted a tarantula have its pincers removed before she would shoot a scene with it. He reveals, "Sharon wanted the spider's pincers removed." And Peta bosses are furious. Spokesperson Ingrid Newkirk tells the New York Post, "She chose to make a tiny insect an amputee. Heath Ledger will be honoured with a posthumous Oscar nomination for his role as the Joker in Batman movie The Dark Knight, his co-star Sir Michael Caine insists. Hollywood legend Robert Redford was in Dublin, Ireland on Friday to collect an honorary degree from the city's Trinity College. The 71-year-old actor was invited by the university's School of Drama, Film and Music. Speaking to students ahead of the ceremony, Redford offered his support for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama: "I think Obama is not tall on experience...but I believe he's a really good person. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban will bring up their baby daughter Sunday in a new $5 million California mansion.
