Eva Mendes may have checked herself into rehab in January to prepare for a new movie, in which she plays a Spanish drug lord. The 30-year-old actress entered Utah's Cirque Lodge to "proactively" attend "to some personal issues", her representative explained at the time. The move shocked Hollywood, until Mendes landed a role alongside Josh Hartnett and Sir Ben Kingsley in Queen of the South, which follows her character Teresa Mendoza, who flees Mexico for Spain when her drug-runner boyfriend is murdered. Gossips are speculating she may have been researching the role in rehab - a theory backed by leading acting coach John Kirby. He tells Star magazine, "It's not unusual at all for an actor or actress to go to the extreme of checking into rehab to prepare for a character. In fact, I would encourage that for my students, because you want to fully immerse yourself in the role."

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have reportedly abandoned their massive multi-million dollar New York penthouse after neighbors became sick of their hard-partying ways. The 22-year-old media mogul sisters snapped up the massive Manhattan pad in 2004 after moving from their native Los Angeles to the east coast to attend New York University. But they have sold it in a hurry for $10.45 million - after dropping the price by almost $1 million to ensure a quick sale. And, despite their bi-coastal lifestyle, neighbors at their Meatpacking District pad are happy to see the twins and their hard-partying ways hit the road. A former neighbor of the starlets tells the New York Post, "The bodyguards in their SUVs are always getting in the way of our alternate-side parking routine. You'd think the president was living here. They certainly keep late hours. I was jogging early one morning and they were piling out of their gas guzzlers in their little club outfits." The sisters are now set to rent another apartment in the city's star-studded West Village area at a $12,000 a month price tag. Their new home - a 10-room triplex brownstone - includes five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a terrace. In the meantime, the buying price for their former abode has been lowered from $11.9 million to $10.45 million.

Funnyman Adam Sandler is to be a father for the second time - his wife Jackie Titone is three and half months pregnant. The Big Daddy star, 41, and Titone, 33, will welcome the new addition to their family in October. Sandler went public with his baby news during an appearance on Wednesday's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." He said, "We're having another baby. (Jackie) is pregnant. She's very sick... she vomits a lot. She's three-and-a-half months and she's a bigger girl now." Sandler and Titone's first child, Sadie, was born in 2006.

Victoria Beckham is reportedly set to return to U.S. TV show Ugly Betty after her successful cameo role last year. The Spice Girl appeared in the show playing herself as a bridesmaid to Vanessa Williams' catty fashion boss character, Wilhelmina Slater. Impressed TV bosses asked Beckham to return and the star has now reportedly agreed to a regular guest spot on the program. A source tells Australian newspaper the Sydney Morning Herald, "The producers are delighted she will return. She is going to feature quite a bit." The show is becoming famous for its celebrity cameos, with supermodel Naomi Campbell and Lindsay Lohan both appearing in the latest series of the hit comedy.

Lindsay Lohan has turned down a nightclub owner's offer to bail her out of her latest legal woe - because she insists she is innocent. Model Masha Markova has filed papers at Manhattan's State Supreme Court claiming Lohan stole her $11,000 mink coat as she left a New York nightclub after a birthday party in January . The coat was later returned, but only after Lohan had been photographed wearing an identical fur on the same night. Nightclub boss John Englebert stepped in on Wednesday and offered to settle the case for Lohan, and buy her her own mink coat. But the actress insists she doesn't need his help. Her representative says, "She already has one (fur coat)." Adding of the coat mystery, the rep adds, "If she took it, she took it by mistake. There are worse mistakes to make."

Tom Cruise has slapped the owners of a top Los Angeles baby boutique with a cease and desist letter, accusing them of going public with purchases he and wife Katie Holmes have made without their permission. The movie star's legal team has fired off documents to the bosses of Petit Tresor, warning them to stop talking to the media about private Cruise family matters. According to the documents, obtained by TMZ.com, Cruise was particularly upset when store bosses allegedly leaked false information suggesting the actors have spent more than $350,000 on wardrobe items for their daughter Suri in the two years since her birth. The lawyers insist no one at the store should "say anything (whether true or false) about Mr. Cruise and Ms. Holmes' shopping habits."

Actor Terrence Howard has proved his credentials as the ultimate over-protective father - he threatened to kill his daughter Aubrey's teenage boyfriend. The Iron Man star didn't appreciate his 14-year-old daughter dating a classmate he disapproves of, and "intervened" by forcing her to ditch the unfavorable suitor. He says, "She's supposedly in love with some guy. I made her break up with him and I've threatened to kill him. I was like, you picked a green fruit from the tree that's far from ripe." And Howard ensures he keeps a tight-leash on his beloved kids - warning Aubrey she will be cut out of any future inheritance if she is not "obedient". He tells his daughter, "I've set a lot of things aside for you, but those things are only yours as long as you're obedient to me." However, the actor has put a crafty plan into action to make sure the teenager doesn't fall back into her unsuitable relationship. He adds, "She's OK now. Though, I'm sure he's still kind of her boyfriend. This summer I'll take her off to another country where her phone won't work, and he'll start dating someone else." Cancer-stricken Ghost star Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi have renewed their wedding vows, according to U.S. reports. The couple jetted off to their New Mexico ranch to exchange vows again, before a small group of close friends. The actor was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the beginning of 2008, and is fighting for his life, according to America's the Globe. Swayze and Niemi will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary on 12 June and the actor is determined to live up to that date and beyond. An insider tells the publication, "He is refusing to give up, but right now he's living for today." The source insists the renewed wedding vows were very special for the couple: "It was very important to him (Swayze) to express his love and commitment to Lisa. They both mean the world to one another." The Globe recently revealed Swayze has drawn up his will to include plans for his own funeral, and he has settled all his affairs - just in case he suddenly loses his cancer battle. The Dirty Dancing star continues to undergo treatment in Stanford, California, but close friends insist the future doesn't look too bright for the movie star. One pal tells the Globe, "It's deadly serious. Doctors have told him that if or when the cancer spreads to his brain he has two weeks to live."

Veteran actor/director Robert Redford is set to wed his long-time girlfriend Sibylle Szaggars. The Lions For Lambs star announced his engagement to Szaggars in an interview with German magazine Bunte, but despite his advancing years, insists the pair is in no rush to arrange a date for the ceremony. He tells the publication, "We are engaged and very happy with that. She is my fiancee and that says everything, doesn't it?" The pair have been dating since 1996, and German artist Szaggars, 52, lives with the 71-year-old at his eco-friendly Sundance Resort in Utah. Redford and his first wife Lola Van Wagenen divorced in 1985. They have three children; Shauna, 48, Jamie, 46, and Amy, 38.

Actress Yeardley Smith Erikson, the woman behind cartoon character Lisa Simpson's voice, has filed for divorce from her husband of four years. The top voiceover artist has cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. She wed Daniel Erikson, her second husband, in 2002 - a decade after divorcing her first husband Christopher Grove. The couple has no children.
