Simpson And Wentz Marry In Fairy Tale Wedding

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz exchanged vows in an intimate wedding ceremony on Saturday evening, their spokesperson has confirmed. The top-secret event was held at Simpson's parents' home in Encino, California and was attended by 150 guests, including Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, actor Donald Faison and the pop star's big sister Jessica Simpson, who served as maid of honor. Jessica's boyfriend, American footballer Tony Romo, was also present at the ceremony, despite reports the couple has split. Ashlee wore an ivory lace Monique Lhuillier gown, complete with a diamond necklace and earrings by Neil Lane. Father of the bride Joe Simpson, a former Baptist minister, performed the non-denominational service, and Fall Out Boy bassist Wentz's English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring-bearer, reports People.com. Confirming the reports on Saturday night, the couple's representative says, "We're delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends." The newlyweds celebrated their new status as husband and wife with an Alice in Wonderland-themed reception, with black beauty roses by Mark's Garden decorating each table. The wedding cake, by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings, featured a top hat, a tea pot, a stop watch and a pot of flowers on top. The marriage comes amid rumors Ashlee is pregnant with the couple's first child. Both stars, who have been dating since 2006, have repeatedly dodged questions surrounding the alleged pregnancy, refusing to confirm or deny the reports.

Farrell: "Weight Loss Is Healthy"

Actor Colin Farrell has sparked fears for his health after he appeared at a press conference looking alarmingly gaunt - but he insists he's merely shedding weight for a film role. Farrell, 31, shocked reporters when he showed up to promote his upcoming movie Triage - in which he plays a war reporter in 1990s Bosnia - during a trip to Spain. He tells People.com, "I lost weight because my role demanded it. It was all very healthy." The Irish actor did not elaborate as to how he lost the weight, instead quoting a line from the Scott Anderson novel on which the movie is based: "He went to the bathroom to shave. Once his beard was gone, he saw that his face had become drawn. He pressed at the hollows beneath his eyes, the pronounced nubs of his cheek bones." But this is not the first time Farrell's appearance has prompted speculation of ill-health. The actor was released from a rehab facility in January 2006 after a spokesperson for the actor confirmed his voluntarily admittance to the program in December 2005 to seek treatment for his use of recreational drugs and painkillers.

Spelling Negotiates For '90210' Spin-Off Role

Tori Spelling's wish to star in the planned Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off series may come true - she is in negotiations to reprise her breakthrough role in the new show. The actress first found fame playing Donna Martin in the hit high school drama, which ran from 1990 to 2000. And after hearing of plans to revive the defunct series in a new spin-off show, the star has been desperate to land a part - even offering to play the role of a sexy mom. Now, Spelling - whose late father, TV producer Aaron Spelling, created the original show - admits she would love make a comeback with her pal Jennie Garth. She tells People.com, "Jennie is already on board for the series and we have been in touch about it. I would love to see our characters together again and get the chance to work with my friend again." Spelling also claims it was her late father's wish to see the hit 1990s show make a comeback She explains, "It was always my dad's dream and intention to make a new 90210 before he passed, so I know he is proud and he would be even more proud if I were a part of it."

Cyrus Defends "Stolen" Song

Teen star Miley Cyrus has hit back at accusations she ripped off a Los Angeles band's song - because she doesn't write any of her own music. Los Angeles band Lustra fired claims Cyrus' song "Rockstar" is a carbon copy of their "Scotty Doesn't Know" tune on Wednesday. The band - whose track appeared on the soundtrack to 2004 movie Eurotrip - was alerted to Cyrus' song-similarities by fans, and has since determined the tunes are virtually the same, despite mismatching lyrics. A spokesperson for Cyrus insists, "She doesn't write the songs - she sings them. We have referred this to Disney." According to The New York Post, the band "is considering various options to rectify this situation."

Allen Defends Set Location Of 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'

Director Woody Allen has defended his decision to shoot his latest movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona in Spain, insisting he would have filmed in any European city, had he been offered the opportunity. The 72-year-old filmmaker has come under attack from local officials in Barcelona, who claimed he had received 1 million euros ($1.6 million) from the city's administration towards the funding of the project - which stars Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson. But, speaking at the movie's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Saturday, he denied the allegations, admitting he would have filmed in any European city, had he been approached to do so. He says, "People from (distribution company Mediapro in) Barcelona called and said if I was interested in making a film there, they would finance it, so I said, 'Sure'. If someone had called me from Rome or Venice or Stockholm or God knows where, I probably would have agreed to it just as readily. But this was a golden opportunity for me, because I happen to have a particular fondness for a number of cities in Spain, and Barcelona certainly is one of my favorites." However, Allen admits there is one destination in Europe he would never return to, after a bad experience in St. Petersburg, Russia, when the city was formerly known as Leningrad. He recalls, "I was planning on being there for five days, and I was there for about two hours, and I went to the travel agent in town and I said, 'Get me the first reservation out of here. I don't care where it goes.' I had a terrible, terrible time there, and I haven't been back since then. And I'm told that it's greatly changed since then, but it would take a lot, because I'm a fearful traveler, and it would take a lot to get me back to Russia."

Hudson Envies Glamorous 'Sex And The City' Co-Stars

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson found it difficult working with her glamorous co-stars on Sex And The City: The Movie - because she was jealous of their high-fashion costumes. The Dreamgirls star landed a role as lead character Carrie Bradshaw's personal assistant in the movie version of the hit TV show - and longed to dress in designer wares like the four New York party girls. But Hudson was left disappointed, as her character was unable to afford the expensive creations made famous in the show. She says, "I wanted to dress like them. But it was unrealistic for my character. Her budget was not their budget. She was just a college kid... so she couldn't afford any of that stuff." However, the star wasn't left too glum with her budget outfits - because she hates wearing high-heels. She explains, "To be honest, I don't like any shoes. And I can't stand high-heels. I don't know what are the highest heels I've ever had. I've never been label crazy."

Nixon Dismisses Marriage Reports

Actress Cynthia Nixon has laughed off reports she is to wed her partner Christine Marinoni, insisting she would only consider marriage if it was legal in her native New York. The Sex And The City star, 42, was alleged to be planning a low-key ceremony to make her romance with Marinoni official later this year. But Nixon, who has been dating the education activist for four years, is adamant there will be no wedding - as long as gay marriage is outlawed in the Big Apple. She tells British talk show host Graham Norton, "It's untrue. 'Cause we can't get married. (But) we could get married for pretend! We live in New York; New York has no same sex marriage. I think one day soon, hopefully, it may (be legal), and then I think we'll consider it."

Johansson Fears Album Backlash From Waits

Actress Scarlett Johansson is desperate to launch her album of Tom Waits covers - because she's anxious for the singer/songwriter's approval. Johansson, 23, will make her album debut with a compilation of the singer's hits when her record Anywhere I Lay My Head is released in the U.S. next week. The album will feature vocals from David Bowie - who has praised her musical talents - but Johansson admits she has yet to receive approval from Waits himself. She tells the New York Post, "When I was presented with the idea, the ultimate goal was to not get chased down by Tom Waits and get my ass beat in a bar. I've heard from people who are friends with him that he's very pleased with it. He's been really supportive - not from the sidelines, but from a far, far distance. It was constantly in the back of my mind that if we did something Tom Waits hated, he'd come at me with a hammer." Waits, 58, announced his own U.S. tour in an online press conference earlier this month.

Smith's $1 Million Investment In California School

Hollywood superstar Will Smith is investing more than $1 million in a new school near his California home. The I Am Legend star has paid $889,000 to lease the Indian Hills High School in Calabasas, after failing to find a suitable institute for his two young children, Jaden, nine and Willow, seven. The actor and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith have, until now, been home schooling the pair. A spokesperson for Smith says of the school - renamed the New Village Academy of Calabasas: "Will is leasing the campus for three years, plus he'll cover all costs such as utilities. The academy will be run privately, and will include pre-kindergarten through grade six."

Hudson "Doing Well" After Wilson Split

Actress Kate Hudson is "doing really well" following her break-up from Owen Wilson, according to her mother Goldie Hawn. The Fool's Gold beauty, 29, split from Wilson earlier this month, just weeks after rekindling their 2007 romance. But Hawn insists there's no need to worry about Hudson, because she's already on the road to recovery, reports People.com. She adds, "She is amazing. She is an amazing girl."
