Johansson and Reynolds Confirm Engagement
Scarlett Johansson has announced her engagement to actor boyfriend Ryan Reynolds. The couple has been dating since February 2007, shortly after Definitely, Maybe star Reynolds broke off his engagement to singer Alanis Morissette. The actress's representative Marcel Pariseau confirmed the news to People.com, revealing, "They're both thrilled." He added that no wedding date has been set. Johansson, 23, and 31-year-old Reynolds will step out for the first time as husband-and-wife-to-be at New York's Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala on Monday night. Johansson famously keeps her private life under wraps, but previously dated actor Josh Hartnett from 2004 to 2006. The media frenzy surrounding the impending nuptials comes at a great time for Johansson, who is promoting her new debut album of Tom Waits covers, entitled Anywhere I Lay My Head.
Diaz Remembers Late Father During TV Interview
Cameron Diaz fought back tears during a TV interview on Monday as she paid tribute to her late father. Diaz made her first public appearance following the death of her father, Emilio Diaz, at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film What Happens In Vegas on Thursday and continued to promote the project on show Good Morning America with co-star Ashton Kutcher. The smiling but clearly emotional actress said, "Well you know, it's one of things you don't really sum it up in a few words. I just think we're so fortunate as a family to have the family that we have and my father, he was dad." Emilio Diaz died suddenly last month, age 58, after a bout of influenza developed into pneumonia.
Thurman Stalker Letters Released

New York court officials have released the detailed notes Uma Thurman's alleged stalker sent her, including heartfelt love letters. The intimate writings were found in 37-year-old Jack Jordan's car, where he had been living during a period in 2005, when he is accused of harassing the star. Jordan, who is standing trial on charges of stalking and aggravated harassment, wrote, "I'm a shy man, Uma, and always had a pretty low self-esteem. In my memory, I have never asked a woman on a date. I could tell you about my life, my dream, play you my music. If you think you love me, then how sad that your kids and you and me would have to spend another holiday apart. Now it's the end of September and I live in my car. The thought of being away for more days, months and even year frightens me and makes me very sad." Jordan was arrested outside Thurman's New York City apartment, after attempting to force his way into her trailer during a movie shoot in the city. Thurman testified at Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday, that she "feared for the lives" of her two children. Jordan insisted he has felt close to the star for many years during his own defense on Friday, when his attorney told jurors that his client has been diagnosed as schizophrenic and bipolar. Closing arguments are set to take place Monday before the case is handed to the jury for verdict. Jordan faces up to a year in prison if he's found guilty.
Cruise Pals Pay Tribute To Movie Star
Tom Cruise's second Oprah Winfrey television special turned into a tribute show on Monday as the movie star's famous friends honored the actor in video messages. Cruise invited Winfrey to his Telluride, Colorado home for a show that aired in America on Friday and the actor returned to the TV talk show host's Chicago, Illinois studio for a chat that aired on Monday. Surrounded by movie billboards, advertising the blockbusters from his 25 years-plus as a film star, Cruise was feted by costars and Hollywood pals like Dustin Hoffman, Will Smith and Renee Zellweger as he celebrated his career. Smith revealed, "There's not a single piece of press... a single image in the 25 years of his career that gets anywhere near capturing who he is." And his Collateral co-stars Jada Pinkett Smith and Jamie Foxx also offered tributes. Smith saidd, "Nothing that he's done professionally holds a candle to who he is as a human being." Cruise's Jerry Maguire co-star Zellweger recalled her famous film line, 'You had me at hello, ' for her tribute: "I didn't need to conjure motivation to say that line... He's just kinda special." There was even a video nod from Cruise's new pal, Victoria Beckham, who revealed she and husband David Beckham went to see Jerry Maguire on their first date. She recalled, "When we got to know Tom, we told him the story... and he sent us the jacket that he wore in one of the scenes, and he signed it."
Richards Fired Nanny Over Charlie Comments

Actress Denise Richards fired her nanny because she spoke ill of her ex-husband in front of the couple's young daughters. Despite the former Bond girl's bitter divorce and custody battle with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, she insists no one in her employ speaks critically about her girls' father when they're in earshot. Richards says, "I actually fired a nanny once, for bashing Charlie in front of the girls. Charlie is their dad, so if I insult their father it's an insult to them. I don't want them ever to feel torn between the two of us." Richards only regrets the former couple can no longer be friends. She tells Redbook magazine, "Charlie is truly a stranger to me, and that's the really sad part. I know many people who have gotten divorced and remained good friends, and I envy that because it's obviously much healthier for the kids than our situation. But I've always tried to handle this respectfully. If you go back and try to dig up quotes about what I've said, there's not a lot out there."
Ferrell Plans 'Anchorman' Return?
Will Ferrell is set to return as 1970s newsman Ron Burgundy in a sequel to hit comedy Anchorman. Director Adam McKay announced his plans for a second Anchorman film during an interview with website Collider.com over the weekend. He revealed, "Will and I are like, 'Let's do Anchorman 2,' so you're talking, like, in two years, maybe we'll do it. But we're going to do it, for sure. We're dying to do it." McKay insists the only thing that will scupper sequel plans will be if he and Ferrell cannot bring the original cast back. He adds, "That's always kind of a tricky thing. But, I think, with that cast we're all friends, so yeah, we want to do it."

Timberlake Sympathizes With Cyrus

Pop star Justin Timberlake has waded into the debate over Miley Cyrus' controversial photo shoot in Vanity Fair magazine - urging people to stop "picking" on the teenager. The candid snaps - which show 15-year-old Cyrus posing bare-backed, wrapped in a satin sheet - have caused outrage in her native U.S., forcing the singer/actress to apologize, and claim she was duped into the shots, which were taken by controversial photographer Annie Leibovitz. But Timberlake - whose first taste of fame was in Disney's Mickey Mouse Club when he was a child - is convinced the media deliberately target "wholesome" teen stars and attempt to create scandal around them. Timberlake insists that although this practice has been going on for a long time, it doesn't make it right. He tells MTV.com, "Of course they're going to pick (on) a wholesome, American, young female (for) the first sign of anything. Unfortunately, there's a picture of her that's published with her in just a blanket. And that's the photo, that's the catalyst. But that's also the age we live in. People want to take a photo, and that's who you are for a year's time. We've all become victims of that." And the pop hunk admits he feels so sorry for Cyrus, he would love to defend her by making a fashion statement, joking: "I'm gonna make 'Leave Miley Alone' T-shirts."
