'The Hills' Star Conrad Blasts Magazine
The Hills star Lauren Conrad has slammed an American magazine for using a fake interview and embarrassing her on the front cover. The reality TV star has accused Us Weekly of pulling together a number of interviews and placing her picture on the front cover with the headline, "Stabbed in the Back" - referring to her friend and co-star Audrina Patridge. But Conrad is adamant she has not spoken to anyone at the publication. She writes on her blog, "The article itself is a nice one but it follows headlines that, in no way, represent my words or feelings. I do not feel betrayed by Audrina or (Conrad's ex) Brody Jenner. I love them both and said nothing to contradict this." And a friends tells New York gossip column Page Six Conrad was not happy with the article because she is friends with people at the magazine: "She's very good friends with these people. She goes out to dinner with them, and so does Audrina. So Lauren definitely wasn't happy when she saw this cover."
'Jericho' Dropped by CBS

TV drama Jericho has been axed by network CBS over its dwindling audience. The series - a portrayal of America post-nuclear attacks - has attracted a small, devoted group of fans, who begged CBS bosses to green light a second series last year after unimpressive viewing figures. Part of their plea involved sending 40,000 pounds of peanuts - a reference to a line of dialogue uttered by the show's actor Skeet Ulrich - to the broadcaster. CBS responded by commissioning seven more episodes - but audience numbers have continued to plummet, forcing the network to make Tuesday's show the last. Spokeswoman Nina Tassler says, "Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program. We simply wish there were more. We have no regrets bringing the show back for a second try."
Rourke Given Probation for 2007 Arrest
Mickey Rourke has been sentenced to six months' probation after pleading guilty to charges of reckless driving in relation to his November 2007 arrest in Miami Beach, Florida. The Angel Heart star was pulled over by police after they spotted him weaving all over the road on his Vespa scooter. Rourke was initially booked for driving under the influence (DUI), but authorities later admitted the Breathalyzer test - which the actor failed during his arrest - was incorrect. A second machine used later showed Rourke was just under the legal limit, and the Dui charge is expected to be officially dropped by Miami Beach's District Attorney. Rourke, 55, was sentenced for the reckless driving charge on Friday and ordered to undertake 50 hours of community service, in addition to paying a fine and legal costs totalling $1,178.75. However, he was allowed to buy the hours to avoid having to complete the community work and paid $10 for each hour received. His lawyer Michael Grieco says, "The only thing he has to do is take an online driving course."
Arquettes Vow To Raise $1 Million In Two Weeks for Charity

Actress Courteney Cox and husband David Arquette have given themselves two weeks to raise $1 million for charity, to raise funds for people with an incurable skin condition. The pair want to raise the cash for the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, of which they are honorary board members, and have roped in their celebrity friends to help launch the charity into the media spotlight. Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a genetic condition which causes internal organs to blister and the skin to ulcerate and disintegrate simply by touch, leaving burn-like sores all over sufferers' bodies, which do not heal. Stars including Jennifer Aniston, Orlando Bloom, and Kate Beckinsale have vowed to help the duo generate the money within a fortnight. Cox Arquette says, "Now is such an important time to put the spotlight on EB and ensure that research can continue at a fast pace. EB is very personal to me so I'm happy to be a part of this $1 million challenge."
Dench Leads Tributes To Late Actor Scofield

Dame Judi Dench has led the tributes to late Oscar-winning actor Paul Scofield who died on Thursday. The British star of screen and stage - who won an Academy-Award in 1966 for his portrayal of Sir Thomas More in A Man For All Seasons - died after a long battle with leukemia. He was 86. Dench - who starred with Scofield in Kenneth Branagh's 1989 Oscar-winning film Henry V - was shocked to hear the news, stating, "He was a great friend and a great man." Revered British actor Simon Callow has described Schofield as "one of the greatest actors in the world." He adds, "He had a charisma, a hypnotism, a kind of spell that he cast on an audience, which was an extraordinary thing to negotiate as a young actor. He was an absolutely towering actor." Famed for his distinctive voice, Scofield rejected the offer of a knighthood on three occasions, but was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of The British Empire) in 1956 and became a Companion of Honor in 2001.
Comedian Epps Hit With Paternity Lawsuit

American comedian Mike Epps is fighting a paternity suit from a Georgia woman who claims the actor is the father of her four-month-old child. The married Next Friday star has been named in legal papers filed by an unnamed female in February, in which she requests Epps take a DNA test and acknowledge the child as his own. The woman's lawyer Randy Kessler claims his client initially wanted to keep the proceedings quiet, but was forced to go public after repeated calls and emails to Epps and his attorneys were ignored. He tells Tmz.com, "We are not asking for the moon, we are just asking him to take a paternity test. Once the tests are completed and paternity is confirmed, hopefully, Mr. Epps will do the right thing and begin to provide for his child." Epps, 37, has been married to wife Michelle McCain since 2006. The couple has no children together.
Salomon Follows Anderson, Calls Marriage a Fraud
Pamela Anderson's estranged husband Rick Salomon has followed the actress' lead by filing legal papers to annul their two-month union. Former Baywatch star Anderson last month applied for a marital annulment by ticking the box marked "fraud" as the reason for the split. On Friday, Salomon filed legal documentation of his own also claiming fraud. Anderson wed her longtime friend Salomon in Las Vegas on October 6. She has previously been married to rockers Tommy Lee and Kid Rock, while Salomon's ex-wives are Elizabeth Daily and Shannen Doherty. Anderson's marriage to Kid Rock was similarly short-lived - they divorced after less than six months as husband and wife.
Ritter's Widow "Shocked" Over Wrongful Death Case

The widow of John Ritter has spoken for the first time since two doctors were cleared of misdiagnosing the tragic actor's fatal heart condition. Amy Yasbeck and the couple's eldest children had launched a $67 million wrongful death case against cardiologist Joseph Lee and radiologist Matthew Lotysch at Glendale's Superior Court, following the actor's sudden demise in September 2003. But the case found neither professional was guilty of misconduct. However, Yasbeck admits she was disappointed by the decision. She tells talk show host Larry King, "I was shocked because I know - I know the truth of what happened and I know because I was there. I was there for a good long time with John. He was sitting up and joking and laughing - and flirting. Without getting too specific, there was time and I think that what everybody learned from this trial is you don't have to play the odds just because a heart attack is way more prevalent than an aortic dissection would be." She adds, "He was a brilliant husband. Absolutely brilliant. The most supportive person in everything I did. He was a wonderful partner. He was so funny. And you know, it's like, you say, well, this, you always use humor to do - but when John Ritter decided to use humor on your, you couldn't be sad, you couldn't be anything but deeply in love."
LaBeouf's Car Trouble
Shia LaBeouf has found himself in even more trouble - his car has been impounded for improper parking. On Tuesday, a warrant for his arrest was issued after he failed to show up in court to face an unlawful smoking charge. The warrant was recalled on Wednesday when LaBeouf's attorney showed up in court to plead not guilty on the 21-year-old's behalf. A pre-trial hearing has been set for April 24. Now, it has emerged the actor's car was impounded for improper parking after he blocked a residential driveway with his sports utility vehicle. Authorities were notified after a home owner in the Los Angeles apartment complex left a note on the car before it was towed away. LaBeouf was forced to hire a driver to get him to a photo shoot for Arena magazine in Los Angeles the following day, reports New York gossip column PageSix.
