Winehouse Says Yes to Rehab

Singer Amy Winehouse has checked herself into rehab in a bid to kick her drug addictions. The move follows a meeting on Thursday with her record label Universal, her management, family members and doctors. It follows photographs published in the U.K. earlier this week apparently showing the troubled star smoking crack cocaine. A statement from Universal reveals Winehouse's rehab stint - at an undisclosed location - is a bid to help her kick her drug dependence in time to appear at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 10. Winehouse is nominated for six awards. The statement reads, "Amy Winehouse's planned appearance at the NRJ Awards in France on Saturday has been cancelled as the artist has entered a rehabilitation clinic. Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors. She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction and prepare for her planned appearance at the Grammy Awards. Amy entered the facility by mutual agreement and continues to receive the full support of all concerned. Amy is the most talented and important musical artist of her generation and has made huge strides on her road to recovery. Universal Music Group wants nothing more than to see her take the time she needs to come back to full health and fulfill her incredible potential with the label. All concerned feel that Amy must put her health before all other considerations and will be by her side whenever and wherever they are needed."

Police Deny Plans To Interview Olsen Over Ledger's Death

The New York Police Department (NYPD) have denied reports they plan to interview actress Mary-Kate Olsen as they attempt to piece together Heath Ledger's final hours. The actress was a good friend of the tragic star, who was found dead at his New York apartment earlier this week, and she was the first person called by the masseuse who found Ledger's body. It has been rumoured that police officials would ask to question Olsen - who was in California at the time of the actor's death - as part of their search for clues as to how the Brokeback Mountain star died. But NYPD detectives, who are handling the case, have denied the former child-star will be a part of their investigation. Detective Joseph Cavitolo tells People.com, "Absolutely at no time are we going to be interviewing her (Olsen). We never had any plans to interview her. At this point we are just waiting for the Medical Examiner's report." An autopsy carried out on Wednesday failed to reveal how the actor died, although police believe his death is drug-related as five different bottles of prescription drugs were found around his apartment.

Gay Activists Blast Radio Host Who Mocked Ledger's Death

A U.S. radio host who mocked Heath Ledger's death live on air a few hours after his passing has been slammed by gay activists. During his Tuesday show, Fox News Radio presenter John Gibson played an audio clip from the movie Brokeback Mountain in which Jake Gyllenhaal's character says to Ledger's, "I wish I knew how to quit you." Gibson then told his listeners, "Well, he found out how to quit you." Later in the broadcast, Gibson played another Brokeback Mountain clip, this time of Ledger's character saying, "We're dead." The host then mockingly repeated, "We're dead," before playing the clip again. Gibson, who is on record as criticizing Brokeback Mountain as a "gay agenda movie," went on to label Ledger a "weirdo" who had "a serious drug problem" and speculated as to reasons why the actor may have taken his own life. Ledger, who was found dead in his New York apartment on Tuesday, is not thought to have committed suicide, according to authorities and his family. Rashad Robinson, a spokesman for The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), says, "Gibson's remarks are vulgar and disgusting. It's sickening that Gibson would exploit Heath Ledger's tragic death to promote such hurtful intolerance. And to do so at a time when family and friends are grieving shows a level of insensitivity that is beyond the pale." On his Wednesday show, Gibson refused to apologize for his comments, explaining they were just "a little Brokeback Mountain joke" and there is "no point in passing up a good joke."

Bond Girls Prepare for 'Quantum of Solace'

Olga Kurylenko has launched a grueling fitness regime to prepare for her role in the newly titled James Bond movie Quantum Of Solace. The 28-year-old former model will play the role of Bond's side-kick Camille in the 22nd installment of the super-spy franchise - and she's undergoing a special workout program to ready herself for the task. She says, "I'm doing weapons training and body flight training for aerial scenes and stunt work for fighting. My days are so long, and it's very physical. She's going to be very different from the previous Bond girls. She's a fighter. This girl is going to kick ass. She's on her own mission and she's driven by revenge." The film, which will see Daniel Craig reprise the role of Bond for a second time, has been shooting at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England, since November and is due for release later this year. And St. Trinian's star Gemma Arterton, who plays an MI6 agent in the movie, has already shot her love scenes with 007. The 21-year-old insists playing Bond's love interest was more difficult than she first thought. She says, "I felt like a giggly girl, and I felt so young and inexperienced - but I kissed James Bond!"

Danny Glover Convicted for Trespassing

Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover has been convicted on trespassing charges for his part in a union rally in a Niagara Falls, Ontario hotel in 2006. Bosses at Canadian Niagara Hotels charged the actor and two Unite Here union representatives with trespassing at their Sheraton on the Falls resort. The trio was protesting hotel workers' salaries and conditions at the time of their arrest. Glover did not appear in court on Thursday to hear his conviction. Sentencing is scheduled for February 8.

Ebert Back in Hospital To Continue Cancer Fight

Beloved U.S. film critic Roger Ebert has been readmitted to the hospital as part of his ongoing battle with cancer. The 65-year-old Chicago, Illinois-based reviewer has previously been operated on three times - in 2002, doctors removed a malignant tumor from his thyroid gland; in 2003, Ebert underwent surgery on his salivary gland; and in 2006, a cancerous growth was removed from the same area. In a post on his website, Ebert writes, "I'll have another surgery, which I hope will solve some problems I've still been living with. I'll be in hospital for awhile (nothing like last time, I trust!). I plan to return full-time as soon as possible."

Ledger To Be Honored by L.A. Memorial

Heath Ledger's family and Hollywood friends will honor the tragic actor at a memorial service in Los Angeles this weekend. According to New York police sources, Ledger's father Kim will jet to California with his son's body, after he arrives in Manhattan on Friday. While in Los Angeles, Ledger's family are expected to attend a service, alongside a number of the Oscar-nominated star's contemporaries. Sophie Ward, a friend of Ledger's and the sister of the actor's last known love interest Gemma Ward, reveals, "(The memorial) will be in LA, then he will be buried in Perth (in Australia)." In an interview with The West Australian newspaper, Ward reveals she spent time with Ledger in their native Perth over Christmas, and insists he neither drank alcohol or took drugs.

Spelling Pregnant Again

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Tori Spelling is pregnant with her second child, according to new U.S. reports. The actress and husband Dean McDermott became first-time parents last year when baby son Liam was born, and they're said to be ecstatic about the news. A close pal of Spelling's tells American magazine In Touch Weekly, "They have been having so much fun with Liam, they couldn't wait to have another (child)." As Wenn went to press there were no details available regarding when Spelling is due to give birth.

Spears Turns Down Plea Deal Over Hit-and-Run Incident

Britney Spears has rejected a plea deal offered by the Los Angeles' City Attorney in relation to hit-and-run charges incurred last August. The star scraped a parked car in a private parking lot in the San Fernando Valley on August 6 in California while driving without a valid license. The hit-and-run charge, which was caught on camera, was dismissed in court in October, after Spears offered a personal apology and $1,000 in compensation to the vehicle's owner, Kim Robard-Rifkin. But the troubled star is still facing a charge of driving without a valid Californian driving license - because at the time of the incident, she was only in possession of a permit from her native Louisiana. Spears' lawyer Michael Flanagan tells PageSix.com the offer she turned down was to plead guilty to the license misdemeanor, meaning "no probation, contingent on her paying the maximum fine of $3000." But the pop star has instructed Flanagan to refuse the deal when he appears in court on Friday as "they (the authorities) are attempting to treat her differently than they would any other person who did not have a valid license at the time." Spears has since obtained her Californian driving license.

Simpson Sends Lawyers After Magazine

Jessica Simpson's attorneys have demanded America's OK! magazine print a "prominent and unambiguous" retraction after accusing them of publishing a "smear campaign" against the singer. Simpson has taken aim at the weekly over a recent article about her relationship with American footballer Tony Romo, headlined 'Jessica Dumped!' The singer's attorneys claim the article is "utterly false" and "is based on nothing more than rumor, gossip and innuendo." According to Tmz.com, Simpson's lawyers have sent a letter to OK! Editor-in-Chief, Sarah Ivens, claiming the article is bogus. They state that their client and Romo are still together, and the news item has subjected Simpson to "public contempt, ridicule, aversion or disgrace."

Hartnett & Dunst Dating?

Actors Josh Hartnett and Kirsten Dunst have fuelled speculation they're romantically involved after the couple was spotted kissing at the Sundance Film Festival. The stars were watching a performance by music group Camp Freddy at the Park City, Utah event when they stunned revelers with a public display of affection after the gig. A source tells U.S. publication People, "They were making out like crazy." Hartnett has recently been romantically linked to beauties including Rihanna and Scarlett Johansson, while Dunst dated Razorlight rocker Johnny Borrell last year.
